Sutong Bridge/KLOC-0, a super-large Yangtze River bridge that crosses the Yangtze River and connects Nantong, Jiangsu and Suzhou, held a groundbreaking ceremony in Nantong on October 30th.
It is understood that Sutong Bridge is the largest cable-stayed bridge with the highest technical difficulty in the world. The main span of the bridge is1088m, which is about 200m longer than the Totoro Bridge in Japan and the Normandy Bridge in France, which are the largest spans in the world, and 70m longer than the Angkor Wat Bridge planned to be built in Hong Kong. After the completion of Sutong Bridge, it will become the largest span cable-stayed bridge in the world. The main tower of the bridge is 298 meters high, making it the first Gao Qiao Tower in the world, nearly 20 meters higher than the Japanese Akashi Bridge and nearly 100 meter higher than the tallest bridge tower in China. The buried depth of the bridge foundation is 80 meters, which is 20 meters deeper than the second Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge. The navigation clearance height of the bridge is 62 meters, which is 10 meter higher than the bridge with the highest navigation clearance in China, and can meet the needs of 50,000-ton container ships. The maximum design wind speed of the bridge deck is 47 meters per second, which is equivalent to twice that of typhoon 12.
The preparatory work for Sutong Bridge has gone through 10 years. In June last year, the State Planning Commission approved the formal establishment of the Sutong Bridge project, and this year1October 23rd, the State Council office meeting discussed and approved it.
Sutong Bridge is an important cross-river passage of the main skeleton of Jiangsu Expressway, and it is also a part of the key trunk highway from Heilongjiang to Fujian planned by the state. The total investment of the bridge is 6.27 billion yuan, and the construction period is 6 years. It is expected to be completed before the end of 2008. After the completion of the bridge, it will open an all-weather direct channel for the central Jiangsu and northern Jiangsu, especially Nantong, to Shanghai and southern Jiangsu, which will greatly accelerate the exchange of funds, talents, materials and information between the central Jiangsu and northern Jiangsu and Shanghai and southern Jiangsu.
The world's largest stone arch bridge-Wuchaohe Bridge in Fenghuang, Hunan, with a span of120m, was built in 1990. The foundation stone was laid recently, and it will be completed in early 2003, becoming the first13rd bridge in Guangzhou, which runs through the north and south and crosses the Pearl River.
Huangzhou Bridge System Project consists of Huangzhou Bridge, Huangpu Chung Bridge and two-way six-lane road, with a total static investment of 520 million yuan. It is the first bridge in Guangzhou that is financed by the society and coordinated by the government. Haizhu district government as the owner is responsible for the construction and management. Huangzhou Bridge System Project is a first-class urban trunk road, starting from the intersection of Keyun Road and Huangpu Avenue in Guangzhou and ending at Luntou Interchange on Outer Ring Expressway. The total length is about 4500 meters, and the width is 60 meters with the red line.
Ping Liu, chief engineer of Huangzhou Bridge, said that Huangzhou Bridge is the first super-long-span V-beam bridge of its kind in China and the largest one in the world. He said that the V-beam bridge has high technical content and is difficult to construct. V-braced bridge is beautiful in shape and has a strong flavor of the times, which will make the Pearl River more dazzling.
The Huangzhou Bridge system project runs through the north and south and across the Pearl River. It is an extremely important urban trunk road system connecting Tianhe District, Haizhu District and Panyu District, and it is a supporting project of the China Import and Export Commodities Trade and Exhibition Center in Guangzhou in the future. The completion of the project will promote the eastward movement of Guangzhou urban center and relieve the traffic pressure of the Pearl River Passage in the east of Guangzhou, which is an important traffic corridor. It is reported that the international convention and exhibition center was originally planned to be put into use at the autumn fair in 2003, and is now trying to be put into use at the spring fair in 2003.
