Foshan is one of the cities with the highest proportion of manufacturing in China's trillion GDP cities, and it is also the only pilot city in China for comprehensive reform of manufacturing transformation and upgrading. However, the proportion of traditional industries in Foshan is too high, and the digital economy accounts for less than 20% of the city's GDP, which has a certain gap with the provincial and national average. For Foshan's manufacturing industry, digital and intelligent transformation is an avenue that Foshan must unswervingly take.

For a long time, the research institute has closely followed Foshan's strategic deployment, based on its own positioning, and contributed to Foshan's big robot industry cluster.

In the early days of its establishment, under the guidance of the municipal and district departments of science and technology, industry and information, the research institute set up an expert team to travel all over the five districts of Foshan, visited and investigated more than 200 local enterprises such as Weishang Furniture, Xingfa Aluminum and Xinmingzhu Ceramics for pulse diagnosis, and formed dozens of digital transformation industry analysis reports such as Foshan industrial robot application demand report and enterprise smart factory transformation report, which empowered the transformation from "Foshan Manufacturing" to "Foshan Intelligent Manufacturing".

The Institute has also built six provincial-level technical service platforms for sub-sectors such as Guangdong Robotics Engineering Center and Guangdong Semiconductor Innovation Center, and integrated experts and technical resources from scientific research institutes such as Tsinghua University and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, as well as Huibo Robotics and Foshan Gugao Incubator, and organized groups to serve various "intractable diseases" encountered in the digital transformation of Foshan enterprises. Robot enterprises are an important force supporting digital and intelligent transformation. At present, China (Guangdong) Robot Integration Innovation Center, which is guided by Nanhai Science and Technology Bureau and operated and managed by the research institute, has gathered 32 robot enterprises, focusing on the robot application needs in Foshan's home appliances, building materials, machinery and equipment, and creating a "one core and multiple parks" robot industry ecosystem; Through the online and offline mode, we will build the first integrated application supermarket of industrial robots in China, provide B2B one-stop service for both the robot supplier and the robot supplier, and solve the last mile problem of robot application.

Overcoming technical problems and solving the transformation needs of Foshan manufacturing industry

With the urgent demand for industrial automation and intelligence from all walks of life, the research institute has also set up an intelligent equipment research and development team integrating algorithm, software, machinery and control sensor system design to actively explore in the field of image and machine vision technology.

Last year, this team put forward the project of "AI smart camera technology research and development and promotion service platform based on multi-field application", which will be based on Foshan's traditional manufacturing industries such as hardware, household appliances, textiles, ceramics and aluminum profiles, and bring together more than 0 leading enterprises such as Haikang Robot, Hangzhou Tengju, Wodepu, etc. 10, and the resources of scientific research institutions such as Huazhong University of Science and Technology, South China University of Technology and Guangdong University of Technology.

Li Zehui, head of the Artificial Intelligence Division of the Research Institute, introduced that the AI smart camera developed by this project can replace manual detection, and has the characteristics of good stability, high measurement accuracy and uninterrupted operation in the functions of object recognition, object counting, size measurement and barcode/QR code recognition, and the long-term working cost after one investment is lower than the labor cost. "We have calculated an account, such as a home appliance production base with more than 2,000 people, with products such as rice cookers, refrigerators, washing machines, microwave ovens, etc. More than a dozen production lines need at least 20 inspectors for quality inspection, at a rate of 80,000 yuan per person per year. If the AI ? ? smart camera is used for inspection, it can at least save the enterprise millions of yuan." Li Zehui said.

The identification speed is only 0. 1s/pcs, and the identification rate is 99.99%. The front shell of refrigerator is inspected for defects. The inspection speed is as fast as 1s/pcs, the inspection accuracy is 0. 1mm, and the detection rate is 99.9% ... At present, the research and development of this project is progressing smoothly, and it has been put into trial operation in cooperation with related enterprises, and it is expected to be officially put into production and put into market by the end of the year.

Joint training of industrial craftsmen to provide talent reserve for innovative Foshan

Core-Pearl Microelectronics, an enterprise that has settled in the research institute, is mainly engaged in the research and development of projects of Guangdong Science and Technology Department, such as artificial intelligence hardware acceleration. Zhang Jinglong, Wang Yihang and other graduate students have completed the hardware architecture design and FPGA board-level verification of the AI accelerator and other plates in the research and development project of smart home information security special chips and products based on the Internet of Things, and have written and obtained several related patents and works.

Constructing industrial ecology and building digital transformation service ecosystem

After eight years' development, focusing on the needs of industrial transformation and upgrading in Greater Bay Area, the Institute has built core industrial ecosystems such as robots and intelligent equipment, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, 3D printing, industrial Internet, and created a digital transformation service ecosystem. It has been awarded the national excellent (A-class) technology business incubator for five consecutive years, successfully incubating more than 220 high-tech enterprises (29 of which have been recognized as high-tech enterprises), with a cumulative output value exceeding 3 billion yuan.

In terms of digital economy, the semiconductor industry is in a key link, and the research institute has also made breakthroughs in this field. At present, relying on the Guangdong Semiconductor Innovation Center, it has introduced and incubated more than 20 semiconductor-related enterprises such as Fozhixin and Ada Intelligent.
