Jiangxi Normal University, founded in 1940, is a well-known institution of higher learning with a long history and profound academic tradition. Up to now, the school has experienced four historical periods: National Chung Cheng University, National Nanchang University, Jiangxi Normal University and Jiangxi Normal University, and its site has also changed in Ling Xing, Longling, Changsheng, Wang Chenggang, Qingshan Lake, Nanshan and Yaohu. ◆ Bailuyuan opens first.
Jiangxi has outstanding people and spirits, and is known as the wind of respecting learning and attaching importance to teaching. Since the beginning of the 20th century, Jiangxi scholars have repeatedly called for the establishment of comprehensive universities in Jiangxi. 1934 In the summer, when Chiang Kai-shek presided over the Lushan Officer Training Corps at Bailudong Academy, he happened to see the beautiful scenery around Xiufeng Temple (Kaixian Temple) in Shannan and thought it was the most suitable place to run a school. Xiong Shihui, Chairman of Jiangxi Provincial Government, took this opportunity to propose to hold a university here and got his consent. 1936, the national government allocated1000,000 yuan as the basis for establishing a university. 1937, the Lugouqiao Incident occurred, and the establishment plan was temporarily put on hold due to the full-scale outbreak of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression. 1939, the Japanese invaders invaded Jiangxi, and the Jiangxi provincial government moved to Taihe, and students gathered inside and outside the province, so the plan to establish a university was put forward again. After the National Government reviewed the plan, it allocated an additional 6.5438+0 million yuan. The Jiangxi Provincial Government invited famous scholars from both inside and outside the province to organize the University Preparatory Committee, which consists of three special committees: school equipment, books and instruments, and education plan. The name of the school is tentatively designated as Jiangxi Zhongzheng University. 1940 In April, the Executive Yuan of the National Government passed a resolution, and the school was named National Chung Cheng University, which was directly under the leadership of the Ministry of Education. On June+10, 5438, the National Chung Cheng University opened in Ling Xing, Taihe County, which was the origin of our predecessor, the founding of the People's Republic of China. After War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression's victory, Chung Cheng University has a grand plan to take Haihui Temple in Lushan Mountain as its permanent site. At that time, Chairman Xiaomi went to make a reconnaissance and got the first phase 1000 mu of land, but because of the change of the current situation, he didn't get it.
◆ Ling Xing Evonne
On June 1940 and 1, the Preparatory Committee of Chung Cheng University was formally established and opened in Ling Xing, a suburb of Taihe. During the work of the Preparatory Committee, the National Government appointed Hu Xiansu (Buzeng), a famous botanist and doctor of Harvard University, as the first president of Chung Cheng University. Hu Xiansu took office in June 1940 65438+ 10/. At the inauguration ceremony, he proposed to make the school "the best university in China". On the one hand, teachers and students of Chung Cheng University strive to save the country, on the other hand, they organize activities to resist the enemy and save the country in various forms. On July 7th, 1942, the Anti-Japanese Field Service Corps of Chung Cheng University was surrounded by Japanese cavalry in Shikou Village, Xin 'gan County. Professor Yao Mingda, the head of the team, and Wu Changda, a member of the team, killed an enemy with their bare hands and died heroically. During the period of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, university professors fought to kill the enemy and died for their country. The whole Chinese nation is unique, and the heroic deeds of teachers and students of Chung Cheng University are celebrated in China. 1945 65438+ 10, Jiangxi provincial government moved from Taihe to Ningdu, and Chung Cheng University was evacuated. 1942 Because Jiang Jingguo, Commissioner of Gannan Administrative Office, asked Chung Cheng University to move to Gannan, the school set up a branch in Longling, Ganxian County in August. Except the Agricultural College, all freshmen of Chung Cheng University (including freshmen majoring in teachers) are registered in Longling Branch, where undergraduates are transferred to Ling Xing Headquarters after completing their first-year courses. So far, Chung Cheng University has formed a school-running pattern of one school, two places, three colleges (law department, engineering college and agricultural college) and four specialized courses (three-year teacher training course, two-year administrative management course, taxation and civil engineering course), and has also established an affiliated experimental school and an affiliated middle school. 1945 1, Longling Branch was cancelled and moved to Ningdu Changsheng Market with its headquarters.
1945 65438+ 10, Chung Cheng University moved to Ningdu with the organization of the provincial government. A large number of teachers and students in the school have gone through hardships, from Taihe to Xingguo through Laoyingpan and trudging to Ningdu Changsheng Market. Longling branch also moved to Changsheng at this time and merged with the headquarters. During the migration process, due to the attack of the Japanese invaders, the school suffered heavy losses in machinery, instruments, specimens, books, etc., which led to the inability to offer all the practical courses later. In this most difficult period, the teachers and students of Chung Cheng University are still trying to maintain their teaching activities. The school resumed classes in Changsheng in April, and all the school buildings borrowed private houses. In June, 392 students graduated in the second phase. In order to make up for the absence of classes during the migration, the school did not have a summer vacation that year. Japan surrendered in August, and from June 165438+ October to February 65438+ February, Chung Cheng University moved northward to Wang Chenggang, a suburb of Nanchang.

The workers disagreed with the move, but the criticism was not adopted by the provincial revolutionary Committee at that time. From September to 10, the school moved to Nanshan. In order to speed up the relocation and reduce the transportation pressure, the Revolutionary Committee of Jinggangshan University proposed to "go into battle lightly", requiring only a small amount of urgently needed items, and other items might as well be discarded. This destructive measure was not implemented because of the unanimous opposition of the masses. In the process of relocation, the school property suffered huge losses, but many precious books and materials were spontaneously preserved by the faculty. 1In April, 970, Jinggangshan University enrolled the first batch of students, which were divided into trainee classes and cadre rotation training classes. 1971April, Jinggangshan university began to recruit students of workers, peasants and soldiers. 1972 10, Jinggangshan University was revoked, Jiangxi Normal University was reopened and moved back to Nanchang. Before the resumption of classes, the school made a decision to "re-link" all the decentralized and transferred teachers and cadres with the school, so that the school restored the original teaching and administrative staff in a short time. When classes resumed, the Qingshan Lake campus was beyond recognition: the school building was divided and occupied by 66 foreign units, the teaching building became a production workshop, the track and field became a paddy field, and the library became a warehouse. After several years of hard work after resuming school, the foreign units occupying the school buildings gradually withdrew from the school.

Starting from 1999, the school expanded the enrollment scale. At the beginning of the new century, the school has entered the ranks of ten thousand universities. After more than a year's investigation around Nanchang, the school decided to build a new campus on the west bank of Yaohu Lake in 2002. The groundbreaking ceremony for the new campus was held on February 24th, 2002. Yaohu Campus is a modern and open campus full of ecological atmosphere and profound cultural heritage. Its most distinctive feature is that it is separated from the outside world by a 7-kilometer-long nursing river, and there is no fence. There are seven bridges (gates) on the Hu Xiao River, named after the former school site, and the names of roads and squares are mostly related to the school history. The school became a doctoral degree awarding unit in June 2003.
