What was the name of Bishan County in Chongqing before?
Five thousand years ago, there were ancestors working in Bishan. During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, the county was the land of Pakistan. In the fifth year of Zhou Shenjin's pilgrimage to the king (3 16 BC), Qin destroyed Ba. In the first year of Zhou Nanwang (3 14 BC), Jiangzhou County, Ba County, was located in Qin Dynasty, and now the county belongs to Jiangzhou County. According to the Records of Bishan County in the 4th year of Tongzhi in Qing Dynasty, Bishan is "the territory of Yugongliangzhou, the territory of Bazi in Zhou, the territory of Ba County in Qin Dynasty, Yizhou in Han Dynasty, Liangzhou in Shu and Han Dynasty, Liangzhou in Jin Dynasty, Yizhou in Song and Qi Dynasties, and Yuzhou in Sui Dynasty". During the Han Dynasty, the economic development in Bishan had reached a high level, and Laifeng had a post station, which became the main traffic route from Chengdu to Chongqing. During the Eastern Han Dynasty, a beautifully carved portrait sarcophagus was popular in Bishan as a way of burial.

Bishan County was built between the Eastern Han Dynasty and the Shu Han Dynasty, and it was named Chang 'an County, which belonged to Ba County. "Taiping Universe" contains: "In Shu and Han Dynasties, Ba County led six counties: Jiangzhou, Zhizhi, Linjiang, Pingdu, Lecheng and Chang 'an." The bitter orange mentioned here is Fuling; Pingdu is Fengdu; Lecheng, in Nanchuan and Zunyi; Linjiang, in the present Hechuan and Beibei areas; Chang 'an, is Bishan, Yongchuan, Rongchang, Tongliang and Dazu, and the county government should be in Wanglaiyi (now Laifengyi). At that time, Bishan was the post road repaired by Zhang Ben, the general of Shu. It was the only place for Shu to go to Wu, and it was also one of the barriers close to Ba County (Chongqing). Chang 'an County was very broad, because in the late Eastern Han Dynasty and the Shu and Han Dynasties, there were many wars and disasters here, and the land was vast and the population was sparse. Therefore, Liu Chan, the late ruler of Shu, abandoned it and merged it into Jiangzhou County, and Linjiang was also abandoned and merged into Jiangzhou County. At this time, the jurisdiction of Jiangzhou County was the largest, which should be as broad as described in Etymology and Chongqing Fuzhi.

In the second year of Tang Zhide (AD 757), according to the Records of Yuanhe Counties in Tang Dynasty (AD 806), "Bishan County, Benjiangjin County, Wanshou County and Bashe County, ... There is an isolated mountain in the middle of Sichuan, with steep northwest sides and slightly flat southeast. The native was Chongbishan (now Maolai Mountain), and in the second year of Zhide (AD) When Tang County was established, it belonged to Yuzhou. At that time, the county territory included all the present county territory and the whole Yongchuan District, the southeastern part of Tongliang, the southern part of Beibei, the western part of Zhongliangshan in Shapingba and Jiulongpo, and the north bank of Jiangjin Yangtze River. In the 11th year of Jiajing in Ming Dynasty (A.D. 1532), Bishan was changed into a wall, which was called Bishan. The reason is that "in the past, there were four mountains, such as jade, and white stones appeared in the clouds, so it was named Bishan." (Jiang Chaozong's "New Bishan County" in Ming Dynasty).

In the early Qing Dynasty, the county was reorganized into Erli Thirteen Jia.
