The customs code is HS code, which is short for Harmonized Coding System. This code is the commodity classification code of customs, statistics, import and export management and international trade under the auspices of the Customs Cooperation Council (now called the World Customs Organization). Mainly used for customs tariff and trade statistics. Including the billing of transport goods, data transmission and the use of general preferential tax numbers.

The overall coding structure of HS includes three parts: classification rules; Description of classes, chapters and subheadings; Codes and regulations for sequentially arranged items and sub-items. China's import and export tariff adopts a ten-digit code, the first eight digits are equivalent to HS code, and the last two digits are Chinese subheadings. By consulting the corresponding HS codes, we can know the supervision of MFN tax rate, general tax rate, value-added tax rate and import tariff.
