First, the differences between English I and English II test sites

1, different syntax requirements:

English 1: Candidates are required to be proficient in using basic grammar knowledge, and there is no specific requirement for grammar knowledge.

English 2: It lists eight grammar knowledge points that candidates need to master, and defines the examination direction and preparation scope.

2, vocabulary memory part requirements are different:

(1) requires different emphases. The English syllabus requires that "candidates can master about 5,500 words and related phrases". The second English syllabus requires that "candidates should be able to master about 5,500 common words and related common phrases skillfully".

(2) Different meanings. English 2: Candidates should be able to understand the meanings of some unusual words according to the specific context, sentence structure or context.

(3) The scope of vocabulary investigation is different. "The amount of new words does not exceed 3% of the total vocabulary of the materials read" has been removed from the English II syllabus.

3. Different reading subjects, genres, vocabulary and option settings:

(1) There are clear restrictions on the theme and genre of English II. Candidates should be able to read written materials with different themes and genres, including economy, management, society, culture, popular science, etc., and genres include expository, argumentative and narrative.

(2) The investigation of ability reduces the relevant requirements. In English 2, the two clauses "understanding the conceptual meaning of the text" and "distinguishing arguments from arguments" have been deleted.

(3) In addition, "make relevant judgments, inferences and extensions" (extension is not required in English II)

4. The categories of new questions are very different.

5. Some translation questions and grading standards are different. English 1: the ability to translate five sentences from a paragraph and accurately understand English written materials with complex concepts or structures. English 2: the ability to translate a few short paragraphs, understand the given English language materials and translate them into Chinese.

6. Different writing scores and types. The alternative questions, word requirements and scores of the composition part of English I and English II are the same. The score of the first major composition in English is 20, while that of the second major composition in English is 15. We mainly examine three types: outline composition, icon composition and picture composition.

Second, both are suitable for their majors.

(A) fully applicable to English majors

1, all academic masters are applicable (thirteen categories, 1 10 first-level disciplines);

2, 8 categories (Master of Laws including law majors and non-law majors) Professional masters are applicable to: clinical medicine (105 1), stomatology (1052), public health (1053), nursing (/kloc-). Master of Laws (law major) (035 102), Chinese International Education (0453), Architecture (085 1), Urban Planning (0853).

(2) Majors that are fully applicable to English II

Seven types of professional masters are applicable: business administration (125 1), corporate management (1252), accounting (1253), and tourism management (1254).

(3) Choose the applicable major of English I or English II.

For the following 23 types of professional masters, English I or English II can be selected for the foreign language examination of the preliminary examination subjects, and the right to choose is exercised by the enrollment unit. Candidates cannot choose the preliminary examination subjects.

Master of translation (055 1) for foreign language majors in academic master's degree and professional master's degree, the initial foreign language subjects shall be implemented with reference to relevant regulations, and English I or English II papers shall not be used.
