Shennongxi, also known as Yandu River, originated in the southern foot of Shennongjia. It is said that Shennong once came to this ladder to collect herbs and went down the Yangtze River along the stream, so later people called this stream Shennong Stream. 1On July 27th, 988, Shennongxi was designated as an international tourist spot by the National Tourism Administration. Shennongxi is 60 kilometers long and flows from north to south. It flows into the Yangtze River at Xirangkou, Guandukou Town, Badong, 2 kilometers east of Wuxiakou. Now the development tour is about 20 kilometers long from Xikou to Guanzikou. The average width of the river is 25 meters, and the narrowest part is less than 5 meters.
Shennongxi Scenic Area is a collection of "Xiong, Xiu, Danger and Wonder", among which Longchang Gorge is famous for its "Xiong", Parrot Gorge for its "Xiu", Mianzhu Gorge for its "Danger" and Shennong Gorge for its "Wonder".

There is a pool as calm as a mirror, which is said to be Shennong's medicine washing pool. The cave is warm in winter and cool in summer, and it is tall and empty. It is a typical limestone landform. Stalagmites, stone pillars and stone flowers between the cave walls have their own forms, and there is an inverted stone curtain at the top of the cave. Among them, Shennong medicine drying platform, pharmacy department and alchemy room are vivid and lifelike, and walking among them seems to be walking in the long river of history, which makes people feel nostalgic.
