Nanjing Vocational College of Science and Technology is an ordinary institution of higher learning organized by the People's Government of Jiangsu Province and directly managed by the Ministry of Education. It is a national model (backbone) higher vocational college and the first batch of model higher vocational colleges in Jiangsu Province. It is the construction unit of "Jiangsu China Characteristic Higher Vocational College", located in the national Jiangbei New District of Nanjing, adjacent to the National New Materials Science and Technology Park.

20 19 and 2020 won the first place in comprehensive evaluation of colleges and universities in Jiangsu province for two consecutive years, 1 time "Top 50 in educational effectiveness", "Top 50 in service contribution" for three times, and "Top 50 in international influence" for three times in national higher vocational colleges, ranking 82nd in national higher vocational colleges, 47th in Wu Shulian and 9th in talent competitiveness of higher vocational colleges in Jiangsu province.

There are 5 national key construction majors, 2 central key construction majors, 2 provincial high-level professional groups, 2 provincial brand majors, 5 provincial high-level backbone majors, and the school-enterprise cooperation major reaches 100%. 309 national, provincial and on-campus training bases have been built, forming a four-level progressive training system of "single ability * * * enjoyment, comprehensive ability leap, post ability expansion and professional ability improvement".
