The benchmark interest rates for RMB loans and deposits of financial institutions will be lowered starting from March 1, 2015. The central bank decided to lower the one-year benchmark loan interest rate of financial institutions by 0.25 percentage points to 5.35%;
The one-year deposit benchmark interest rate was lowered by 0.25 percentage points to 2.5%. At the same time, in conjunction with promoting the market-oriented reform of interest rates, the upper limit of the floating range of deposit interest rates of financial institutions will be adjusted from 1.2 times to 1.3 times the benchmark deposit interest rate; the benchmark interest rates for other grades of deposits and loans and the interest rates for personal housing provident fund deposits and loans will be adjusted accordingly.
