Geely District is located on the north bank of the Yellow River, 30 kilometers away from the downtown area of Luoyang. Established in 1978 due to the construction of Luoyang Refinery, and formally established in 1982. The total population of the region is nearly 70,000, with a total area of 80 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 4 streets, 28 communities and 10 administrative villages, and the urban built-up area is 19.2 square kilometers.
It has a long history and splendid culture. Geely is located in the hinterland of the Central Plains, known as Heyang in ancient times, with profound historical and cultural background. There are four or five thousand years ago Longshan Cultural Site, Xiadu Ancient Zhancheng Site, and many cultural relics and historic sites, such as Zhou Wuwang Alliance Station in the Western Jin Dynasty, Heyang Ancient Battlefield, the old capital of the Yellow River, Yinghuazhai, Wanfoshan Grottoes in the Northern Wei Dynasty, etc. During the Shang and Zhou Dynasties, eight hundred governors joined forces with Tianjin; Gongsun Zan fought Heyang in the Eastern Han Dynasty; In the Western Jin Dynasty, Pan An threw a fruit cart to water the flowers; In the Tang Dynasty, Li Guangbi led a brigade to resist adversity; And many well-known stories such as "It's better to prepare for the morning meal than to serve the river in Li Shihao" by Du Fu, and "Although you don't travel far, you should guard the river" have happened here.
The industry is developed and its characteristics are obvious. Geely owns Geely Science Park in Luoyang High-tech Industrial Development Zone, which is an important part of the core area of Luoyang Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone. China Petrochemical Luoyang Branch, a national super-large enterprise, has 8 million tons of crude oil processing capacity and a variety of petrochemical raw materials such as PX, PTA, polyester staple fiber and polypropylene. The petrochemical industrial cluster in the area is the only three-star industrial cluster in the city, with a planned total area of 13.02 square kilometers and a built-up area of 7.98 square kilometers. There are 0/02 enterprises in Kloc-0, forming a petrochemical industrial base, a fine chemical industrial base and a new chemical material industrial base with China Petrochemical Luoyang Branch, Luoyang Jinda Petrochemical Co., Ltd. and Liming Institute Geely Industrial Park as the backbones.
