Let's just say that the new BYD Tang DM-i car may need to be equipped with FSD suspension system, and the price may also drop. This configuration was only available on a few models before, and some two-wheel drive models of Korean EV should also be equipped with FSD as standard. These two actions may indirectly indicate that the cost of this configuration has come down.
Then compared with the FSD suspension system, in fact, the industry is more looking forward to DiSus-C intelligent electronic control active suspension, which can be used by more models. At present, it is only used on the top and limited edition models of some models. According to colleagues who have experienced this system, the chassis will become more comfortable and flexible with this system.
At present, some BYD vehicles use FSD, and some four-wheel drive vehicles use DiSus-C suspension. Moreover, the newly listed Han EV Champion Edition and Four-wheel Drive Edition (299,800) all come standard with DiSus-C suspension. So, what are the characteristics of this DiSus-C suspension? Why expect more models to be decentralized?
If you buy BYD, you can really buy four-wheel drive if you have the ability.
Let's talk about the essential difference between DiSus-C and FSD. Dissus -C is an electronically controlled damping suspension. The sensor actively collects road information, and the controller calculates that it can adjust the stiffness of the suspension in milliseconds. FSD is a variable damping suspension, and the suspension damping adjustment is realized by automatically switching the mechanical structure according to different forces.
The working principles of the two suspensions are essentially different, DiSus-C is more intelligent and accurate, while FSD can only meet the adjustment and change of suspension hardware and software through traditional mechanical structure.
Simply put, DiSus-C intelligent electronically controlled active suspension is more like an active suspension system that can think independently. It can adjust the suspension damping according to different road conditions, thus improving the comfort and handling of the vehicle. The above is the essential difference between Sudi -C and FSD. The former is used for four-wheel drive and the latter is used for two-wheel drive.
Then the question is, why can't the two drives use Sudi -C?
DiSus-C intelligent electronically controlled active suspension consists of two front wheel acceleration sensors, two rear wheel suspension height sensors, an IMU and four electronically controlled shock absorbers. Each part has its own division of labor. The acceleration sensor collects the road vibration signal and calculates the tire jumping speed. The height sensor collects road information according to the height change of the car body, and then obtains the movement speed of the shock absorber; IMU is responsible for sensing the attitude of the vehicle and calculating the movement speed of the spring; Electronically controlled shock absorption is a kind of shock absorber with continuously adjustable damping.
Through the data collected by these sensors, suspension settings suitable for various vehicle postures can be obtained through calculation. Then if you switch to two-wheel drive (front drive or rear drive) and equipped with this system, then there is no accuracy. This system relies on the data of front and rear wheels and body posture to maintain a good body posture in the limit state.
Because Sudi -C can't give full play to the strength of the two-wheel drive model, it can be understood by FSD, and it is enough to meet the demand of driving comfort without talking about the accuracy of suspension adaptation in various extreme environments.
So it is not groundless to buy BYD and four-wheel drive for better driving quality.
Comfort and performance are the necessities to the high end?
Generally speaking, the suspension system of a car will eventually affect two major indicators, one is handling performance and the other is comfort. The suspension is too soft, the shock absorber is easy to press to the end, the steering will not be sensitive when it is suddenly opened, and the roll is large. Especially the excellent suspension of SUVs with high chassis is beneficial to the sense of control when driving, but the acceleration belt, potholes and comfort will be discounted.
Therefore, choosing the middle between comfort and performance is often a problem that high-end models will consider.
In the past, the soft and hard adjustment of suspension only appeared in high-end models, and the soft and hard adjustment and height adjustment of suspension were also adjustable, which would be carried by most models above 500,000. Either air suspension or electromagnetic induction suspension system, both of which are closed-loop systems with sensors and controllers. Vehicles can spontaneously detect road conditions and body posture, actively adjust suspension hardness and even actively adjust suspension height.
BYD DiSus-C, on the other hand, adopts the structure of electromagnetic valve shock absorber, and uses a sealed oil pump that can move in both directions, so that the piston can move up and down in hydraulic oil. The valve on the piston allows hydraulic oil to be injected in two directions. The smaller the valve, the more difficult it is for hydraulic oil to flow and the higher the shock absorption hardness. Conversely, the larger the valve, the lower the damping stiffness.
DiSus-C intelligent electronic control active suspension controls the oil flow in the damping valve of the shock absorber by adjusting the opening of the damping control valve, thus controlling the damping.
Application scenarios, such as outputting soft damping settings when vehicles pass through bumps and potholes; When passing through the speed bump, the damping of the rear suspension is reduced and the comfort of passengers is improved. If it is for driving quality, such as sharp turns and lane changes, the suspension can output harder damping, make the inclination of the vehicle smaller, improve the flexibility of the body, and enhance driving pleasure; When the vehicle brakes or accelerates in an emergency, the phenomenon of nodding the head can also actively adjust the stiffness of the suspension, so that the vehicle can keep the body posture stable under two working conditions.
However, BYD's DiSus-C active suspension can not adjust the height of the suspension, but only the damping hardness of the suspension, which is still worse than our common air suspension and electromagnetic induction suspension in function.
So, objectively speaking, how to evaluate this DiSus-C active suspension?
To be clear, whether in the era of electric vehicles or fuel vehicles, one of the necessary conditions for high-end cars and luxury cars is comfort. Like most D-class fuel vehicles, comfort is always the ultimate point they want to achieve, and there will also be the pursuit of suspension technologies for those flagship models, including air suspension, active suspension and electromagnetic induction suspension.
However, in the new energy era, without the three technical barriers, making a high-end texture seems to be a good breakthrough, and it is really easy to differentiate. DiSus-C like this set may be the beginning of BYD's high-end development. Although only the damping hardness of the suspension can be adjusted, the measured experience is good enough to cope with most driving conditions.
This DiSus-C relies on a relatively complex structure and multiple sensors to complete the corresponding adjustment of various working conditions. In other words, the problem of reliability is still a test. Even if it was mass-produced and assembled on some high-end models at the end of last year, it has not been verified by the market for a long time. Then, this set of configuration with complex structure and high dependence on sensors needs to spend a lot of time to verify its reliability.
In addition, DiSus-C can only adjust the stiffness of suspension damping at present, but not the height of suspension.
How can I put it? DiSus-C is a technology independently developed by domestic brands, which deserves support and affirmation. After that, this system will also be used in Tengshi car, and with BYD's technical research ability, there is a great possibility of iteration after this DiSus-C, and there is also a great possibility that a new suspension system will appear.
