In the early morning of July 22, 2020, 203 officers and men of the first echelon of the eighth batch of peacekeeping troops from China took off at Shenyang Taoxian Airport by special plane and went to Marigao, West Africa, to replace the seventh batch of peacekeeping troops on duty there and began to carry out a one-year peacekeeping mission. On September 18, the State Council Press Office released a white paper entitled "Thirty Years of China's Military Participation in UN Peacekeeping Operations".
On February 28th, 2020, the sixth batch of 65,438 troops from China went to South Sudan (Juba) to successfully complete the peacekeeping mission. On May 25th, 2023, UN Secretary-General Guterres presented medals to peacekeeping victims, including China soldiers.

Chinese peacekeepers is a branch of the United Nations peacekeeping force. The United Nations peacekeeping force is a special multinational force established in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions. The first United Nations peacekeeping force was established during the Suez crisis in 1956. Entrusted by the United Nations General Assembly or the Security Council, it is active in areas with international conflicts.
Soldiers of peacekeeping forces wear sky-blue helmets or blue berets with the abbreviation of "United Nations" on them, and the armbands are decorated with the pattern of "Earth and Olive Branch". Anyone who participates in the United Nations peacekeeping forces must receive special training in the training centers of the four Nordic countries, so as to be familiar with the functions, objectives and tasks of the peacekeeping forces and conduct special military training.
1992 In April, the China Army sent an engineering brigade consisting of 400 officers and men to the United Nations Interim Authority in Cambodia, which was the first time that our army sent a formed unit to participate in a United Nations peacekeeping operation. From April to September, China sent two groups of 800 officers and men to participate in the peacekeeping operations of the United Nations Transitional Authority in Cambodia. This is the first troop sent by the China government to participate in UN peacekeeping operations.
