Whether door-to-door collection is legal depends on the situation:

1. Collection is reasonable and legal within the scope permitted by the law. Under such circumstances, door-to-door collection is legal.

2. If there is illegal detention, it is illegal. The crime of illegal detention refers to the criminal act of illegally depriving others of their personal freedom by detention, confinement or other coercive methods. According to the law, anyone who constitutes the crime of illegal detention shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than three years, criminal detention, public surveillance, or deprivation of political rights. Those who are beaten or insulted shall be severely punished. In the process of debt collection, it often happens that the personal freedom of debtors is forcibly restricted. The law stipulates that illegal seizure or detention of others in order to collect debts constitutes this crime.

3. It is illegal to invade a residence illegally. The crime of illegal intrusion into a residence refers to the act of illegally forcibly breaking into another person's residence without the consent of the owner of the residence, or refusing to exit despite being asked to do so by the owner of the residence.

According to the law, anyone who illegally invades another person's house shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than three years or criminal detention.

4. If it is a debt collection involving gangs, it is illegal. Debt evasion involving gangs mainly refers to creditors collecting debts through gangster methods, which can be divided into two situations: First, the creditors themselves are gang members. Secondly, creditors use the underworld (such as debt collection companies involved in underworld) to collect debts.

The documents required for door-to-door collection are:

1. Personal ID.

First of all, the collection personnel need to show their relevant identity documents to the borrower.

2. Third-party power of attorney.

If the collector is a third-party collection agency and is entrusted by the lending institution to come to collect debt, the collector should present his or her third-party power of attorney to the borrower.

3. Loan information.

When conducting door-to-door collection, the collection personnel need to bring loan-related information.

4. Collection letter. The reminder letter can promptly understand the reasons for the other party's arrears and communicate information so that corresponding countermeasures and measures can be taken to coordinate the relationship between the two parties.

Article 234_

Intentional Anyone who harms another person's body shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than three years, criminal detention or public surveillance.

Whoever commits the crime in the preceding paragraph and causes serious injury to another person shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not less than three years but not more than ten years; whoever causes death or serious injury and severe disability by particularly cruel means shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not less than three years and not more than ten years. Life imprisonment or death penalty. If this law provides otherwise, the provisions shall prevail.

Article 238

Whoever illegally detains others or illegally deprives others of their personal freedom by other methods shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than three years, criminal detention, public surveillance, or deprivation of political rights. Whoever commits the crime in the preceding paragraph and causes serious injury shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not less than three years but not more than ten years; whoever causes death shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not less than ten years. Anyone who uses violence to cause injury, disability or death shall be convicted and punished in accordance with the provisions of Articles 234 and 232 of this Law.

Whoever illegally seizes or detains others for the purpose of collecting debts shall be punished in accordance with the provisions of the preceding two paragraphs.

Any state agency staff member who takes advantage of his or her authority to commit the crimes in the first three paragraphs shall be severely punished in accordance with the provisions of the first three paragraphs.

Article 245_

Whoever illegally searches the body or residence of others, or illegally invades the residence of others, shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than three years or criminal detention.

Any judicial staff member who abuses his power and commits the crime in the preceding paragraph shall be severely punished.
