At present, China's potato industry is developing rapidly, with planting area and fresh potato output ranking first in the world, industrial chain gradually expanding and economic benefits steadily improving.

In 20 10, the national potato planting area and output reached 78.08 million mu and 810.54 million tons, respectively, a substantial increase compared with previous years. The level of potato industrialization has been continuously improved. At present, there are about 5,000 potato processing enterprises in China, including about 150 large deep processing enterprises. The annual processing capacity of refined starch in China is about 2 million tons, the total amount of flour exceeds 654.38+million tons, and the potato chips are about 250,000 tons.

It is reported that in 20 10, the provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) with potato planting area exceeding 5 million mu in China include Inner Mongolia, Guizhou, Gansu, Sichuan, Yunnan and Chongqing, with a total planting area of 50.65 million mu, accounting for 65% of the national potato planting area.
