Where does Baixiang Han Peony belong?
White elephant peony is a trademark of geographical indication.

According to folk unofficial history records, at the end of the Western Han Dynasty, when Wang Mang was in the New Dynasty, Guangwu Emperor Liu Xiu was saved by hiding under the peony flowers of Mituo Temple in Beihao Village, Baixiang County. According to the records in "Baixiang County Records" in 2 1 (1932) of the Republic of China, when Emperor Guangwu Liu Xiu proclaimed himself emperor, he passed by Baixiang and wrote a peony poem: Xiao Wang took refuge in a deserted village, and Jingxing Temple was not very desolate. There are only a few peony flowers, and loyalty to the king will not change. The name of peony in Han dynasty was obtained from this.

According to "Old Stories of County Records", after Wang Mang usurped the Han clan, he sent troops to kill Liu Xiu, a clan member of the Han clan, in order to kill weeds. One day, a general dressed in a war shirt, covered in dust and sweaty, rode his horse and waved his whip and came straight to Beihao Village. It was a war-torn era, and the villagers were afraid to mind their own business, so they were scared to close the door quickly. The general dismounted, knocked on the door sweating profusely, begged for a bowl of water to drink, and found a place to hide, even if there was an old temple in the shabby house. Some villagers said through the door that there was no well or temple in this village, so they quickly ran outside the village. The general was helpless and sighed, "There is a scene in Beihao Village. There are no temples and no wells. The land god lives in a hole in the wall. " Up to now, the land lords in our community are enshrined in the hole in the wall facing the door.

As soon as the voice fell, the wind and smoke rolled outside the village, the flags covered the sky, the horses screamed, and the pursuers were coming. Knowing the danger, the general whipped his horse and ran forward. He saw a temple with broken walls at the head of the village and jumped in. Plop, I fainted under the flowers. Strange to say, the branches of this flower swished, spread their leaves, covered the general tightly and followed him. He looked everywhere in the temple, but he didn't see the general. He saw a white horse running forward, so he ordered the soldiers to follow him.

An hour later, the unconscious general was awakened by the fragrance of flowers. When he opened his eyes, he saw himself lying among the flowers, and all the peonies were in full bloom, as red as the morning glow. He felt relaxed and happy, and his hunger and thirst disappeared. He was full of energy, so he wrote a poem on the broken wall of the temple with his sword and pranced away.

Seeing that the pursuers were far away, the villagers came to the temple in 3355 to have a look, only to find that there was a poem on the wall that read: "Xiao Wang avoided chaos and went through a deserted village, and the well temple was not very desolate." Only a few peony flowers, loyal to the king. "Signed Liu Xiu.

After reading the poem, everyone was dumbfounded. It turns out that this wonderful flower is a beautiful peony. Where is the other one? Living together is peony; This general was Emperor Guangwu Liu Xiu, who later ascended the throne in Chiaki Minami Baixiang Pavilion. Because the peony here once saved the life of Liu Xiu, Emperor Guangwu of Han Dynasty, people called the white elephant peony the peony of Han Dynasty.

Five wonders of Han Mudan

First of all, it is very old.

It was recorded in the Han Dynasty more than two thousand years ago. It is more than 500 years earlier than Luoyang Peony in Tang Dynasty and 1400 years earlier than Heze Peony in Ming Dynasty. This is a must in China and the best in the world. (Note: Luoyang Peony in the Tang Dynasty or Heze Peony in the Ming Dynasty have not survived as single plants until now, but they have been planted since then. The life span of peony is generally only a few decades, and it is rare to see it for more than a hundred years. )

Second, the same plant and different flowers.

Peony flowers with different colors, patterns and levels can be produced on the same peony in Han Dynasty. There are lotus type, chrysanthemum type and thousand-layer terrace type.

Third, it is not alive in different places.

Peony in Han Dynasty can only be cultivated in this pond, without which it can't survive. After 1937, during the Japanese invasion of China, the Japanese military leaders stationed in the county attempted to monopolize the famous flowers. He sent people to dig it twice and brought the roots and soil back to Japan for planting. Despite watering and fertilizing, the peony in China was beaten to death. The peony in Han dynasty was plundered by this, and its branches and leaves dried up and did not grow for several years. It was not until 1949, after the national liberation, that the roots and branches of China peony revived and blossomed again. Therefore, people also praised the national integrity and patriotic spirit of China Peony. Later, someone transplanted it, but it still failed to survive.

Fourth, the mystery.

There are both ancient myths (a flower is buried in the ground and peony is the savior) and modern mysteries: in the year when Emperor Guangxu and Empress Dowager Cixi died in Qing Dynasty, two white flowers were in full bloom. 1976 Three more white flowers opened. In that year, Premier Zhou Enlai, Chairman Zhu De and Chairman Mao Zedong passed away.

Fifth, it is called aura.

On the stone tablet in the 16th year of Guangxu reign in Qing Dynasty, the Chinese peony, which recorded the white elephant, was "famous for its aura". Since the older generation, there has been a saying that "bloom knows state affairs, while bloom is rich in years and short in years". So far, the folk wind of "appreciating flowers and asking for politics" is still flourishing.
