How to use the dollar part of the credit card?
The dollar portion of a credit card can be used for the following purposes:

1. When going abroad, you can swipe your card and use the US dollar account in your credit card.

2. Overseas websites support the use of US dollar transaction payment websites.

In addition, there is no way to overdraw the US dollar account balance in the credit card in China for the time being.

Generally speaking, the dollar account on the credit card cannot be taken out, but can only be used. You can go to websites or stores that use dollars. It is not cost-effective to withdraw money from abroad, and the handling fee is very high. We know that when you use an international credit card for spending abroad, you can make transactions through different channels, such as UnionPay, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB and so on.

When the UnionPay line is selected, all foreign currency transactions will be converted into RMB according to the real-time exchange rate and included in the RMB account of the international card. For example, after spending HK$ 1 ,000 through UnionPay in Hong Kong, the cardholder will receive a prompt message of "spending RMB 88 1.69 yuan", indicating that the consumption has been directly converted and credited to the RMB account. In this way, the repayment method is naturally completely consistent with the general RMB consumption. And unionpay doesn't charge any fees. If you choose other routes, the consumption amount will be accounted into a foreign currency account, and you may face foreign exchange handling fees.

For example, RMB-USD dual-currency cards are consumed in Europe through non-UnionPay channels, and international organizations will convert the consumption amount of euros into US dollars and record it in the US dollar account of dual-currency cards. There must be a currency conversion process. Visa, Master, Express, JCB and other corresponding international organizations will charge a certain handling fee, which is generally around 1.5%. Cardholders need to repay their US dollar accounts after returning to China.

When the credit card foreign currency account has debts, repayment is not so easy. Perhaps the first thing you think of is the repayment of debit card related accounts. Yes, this is a good idea, but not all related accounts can automatically repay the foreign currency arrears of credit cards.

Generally speaking, when the debit card is bound to automatic repayment, the cardholder needs to choose whether the debit card account is associated with the credit card foreign currency account. If there is no choice, the debit card account will only repay the arrears of the credit card RMB account, and the arrears of the foreign currency account will be returned only after the automatic repayment function of the foreign currency account is set.

The repayment method of China Merchants Bank is quite special. Cardholders can choose to open a foreign currency account, and automatically repay the foreign currency account of the credit card after going through the relevant formalities, that is, "foreign currency is returned to foreign currency". Cardholders can also choose to open the "RMB to foreign currency" function of one-card card. On the final repayment date, RMB deposits in the one-card account will be repaid automatically by purchasing foreign exchange at the quoted price, and foreign currency arrears will be paid first.

Here, there is a question to be reminded. If the cardholder opens the above two functions at the same time, the automatic purchase of foreign exchange will be given priority, that is, "RMB to foreign currency". In other words, when the RMB deposit in the card is enough to repay the foreign currency arrears of the credit card, the funds in the foreign currency account of the card are useless. At the same time, because the deposit is used to repay the foreign currency arrears, the RMB arrears may not be fully repaid. Therefore, only one of the two functions is recommended. When handling relevant formalities, the cardholders of Shanghai Pudong Development International Card can also choose RMB automatic repayment, RMB automatic purchase of foreign exchange repayment, and foreign currency linked account automatic repayment, but unlike China Merchants Bank, RMB arrears are repaid first.
