There are two kinds of bank cards mentioned here: debit cards and credit cards. A debit card is a card for saving money. In China, this card can be used not only for withdrawing money but also for spending by credit card. Japanese debit cards can only be used to deposit and withdraw money, not to use credit cards. The other is a credit card, which is a card that pays back the money next month after spending in advance. Of course, you can also withdraw money (borrowed from the bank) when you need it urgently.
I. Domestic Debit Cards
I got a card in China and brought it to Japan. Domestic parents remit RMB to this card and withdraw Japanese yen in Japan, and there is no handling fee.
It is recommended to withdraw at 7 1 1, which is the maximum amount available. Some convenience stores seem to have a small amount of money, and 7 1 1 ATMs have Chinese service, which is very convenient. I recorded a tutorial at that time. If you are interested, you can take a look at this.
You can refer to these, but it doesn't mean that I have verified them! You can call the specific bank yourself.
Second, apply for visa/amex/master credit card in China.
Japanese online shopping, shopping mall consumption, water, electricity and coal payment, mobile phone charges, etc.
In this case, it is recommended to apply for an American Express card. Of course, visa and master are almost universal in Japan. But personally, I prefer American Express. China Merchants Bank's American Express Card has the UnionPay logo affixed to it. Although many people complain that this is a dog skin plaster, it is really useful.
The ordinary card of this card is beautiful, green and easy to handle, and so is the gold card. There is no threshold, but it seems that the platinum card needs an annual fee of 3600 yuan. If you are a student, just get an ordinary card or a gold card in China.
The advantage of credit card is that you can go through two channels. One is the UnionPay channel. For example, if you swipe your card in Japan, people will ask you which one to swipe. You can choose UnionPay and settle the expenses directly in RMB.
The other is other channels (American Express or visa and master channels). In this case, it needs to be converted into foreign currency for settlement, including buying things on Japanese websites and booking hotels.
But don't think that UnionPay cards can really travel all over Japan, and some traditional old shops and well-qualified shops can't go through the UnionPay channel. Last time I went to Japan to study, I took my students to Michelin restaurant L'ATELIER de Joёl Robson, but I couldn't use the UnionPay channel at home, so I took the express channel.
To sum up, there are three kinds of credit cards: American Express, Visa and MasterCard. I don't think it's necessary to run jcb specially.
Don't worry about not being able to repay your credit card abroad. Now the functions of WeChat repayment and Alipay repayment have long been complete.
3. Debit cards that can be directly transferred to Japan by mobile phone in China can be used to remit tuition fees and transfer money to Japan.
At this time, many bank cards can come in handy, but it is best to ask the bank: "Can I exchange foreign exchange directly on my mobile phone and then transfer money directly?" .
I applied for a card from China CITIC Bank, because this bank is closest to my place of work. At that time, I randomly set up a card. Although I always thought this card was too ugly, I didn't expect international remittance to come in handy later.
Many other bank cards have the function of direct remittance by mobile banking, so you can ask clearly. If not, it would be great to run this CITIC Bank!
Fourth, Japanese debit cards.
In Tokyo, of course, it is Mitsubishi Tokyo ufj card, after all, Japan's largest bank. The service is also good. In the past, online banking directly used password cards, so when you return to China, you can directly control your bank card transfer in Japan through the network, especially when comparing with other cards.
Of course, in some places, it seems that you can't directly handle other banks' cards, so you can only handle the Postal Savings Bank first. Because you need a bank card to handle mobile phones and the like, you should handle the Postal Savings Bank first, and then handle other banks later.
With this account, parents can directly remit tuition and living expenses to this account. Part-time jobs can also be recorded on this card, which will be used when renewing.
Verb (abbreviation for verb) Japanese credit card
After you arrive in Japan for a period of time, you can apply for a Japanese credit card, depending on the review after you submit your application. I was applying for Lotte, both from Mitsubishi and Tokyo.
Of course, because you are a student, the amount is not high, generally around 65438+ million yen. But it will also be very convenient, because Japan often needs a credit card to book hotels and air tickets online, especially if it is a Japanese credit card, it will be easy to pass.
Japan can't use debit cards for direct consumption! It must be a credit card to swipe!
