As the economies of various former Soviet Union countries continue to slump, the two most powerful countries: Russia and Ukraine are trying to exchange for much-needed foreign exchange funds through military-industrial foreign trade. Therefore, under extremely difficult circumstances, the two countries still developed many advanced military aircraft. One of the eye-catching stars is the An-70 (An-70) wide-body short take-off and landing medium-sized military transport aircraft.
The An-70 has a total weight of 130 tons and can carry 25 to 35 tons of cargo over a distance of 3,800 kilometers to 7,400 kilometers. The load capacity is similar to that of the American C-141 jet transport aircraft. With a cruising speed of 750 km/h (close to the speed limit of propeller-driven aircraft), it can perform airdrop missions at various altitudes. It can airdrop a single item weighing 20 tons. It can also carry 300 fully armed soldiers or 206 sick and wounded. The An-70 can take off and land on a 180-meter-long cement runway with a lightly paved layer, and can also take off and land on an unpaved 600-900-meter runway. Under the above-mentioned take-off and landing conditions, it can carry cargo weighing 20 to 25 tons and fly 1,450 to 3,000 kilometers.
