Shibor refers to the Shanghai Interbank Offered Rate (Shibor).
Interbank lending rate has a wide range, including interbank lending rates around the world. Shanghai interbank offered rate also belongs to the category of interbank offered rate, including LIBOR and so on.
Second, the composition of banks is different.
Shibor quotation bank group is now composed of 16 commercial banks. Quoting banks are primary dealers in the open market or market makers in the foreign exchange market. They are relatively active in RMB trading and fully disclosed in the China money market.
For interbank lending rates, the composition of interbank lending rates in different countries is determined by the financial regulatory authorities of relevant countries and regions.
Third, the regulators are different.
Shibor is supervised by the People's Bank of China, and the People's Bank of China has set up a Shibor working group to determine and adjust the members of the quotation bank group according to the implementation guidelines of Shanghai Interbank Offered Rate (Shibor), supervise and manage the operation of Shibor, and standardize the behaviors of quotation banks and designated issuers.
Interbank lending rates in other places are supervised by relevant financial supervision departments.
