Farmers in Midu have a tradition of planting garlic. The garlic they produce is big, and the allicin content is more than three times higher than that in plain areas, which is favored by domestic and foreign markets. Midu has given full play to its geographical advantages as a distribution center for vegetable products in western Yunnan, and built 14 vegetable and agricultural and sideline products trading markets. At the same time, actively encourage and support the local large-scale garlic transportation and marketing enterprises to "upgrade", accelerate the expansion of garlic processing and export industrial clusters, and form a development trend of competing for each other. At present, the county has formed a team of garlic and agricultural and sideline products brokers with more than 5,000 people and more than 30,000 employees. Expand the market space of garlic products through the promotion of science and technology, marketing and leading enterprises. It has realized the one-stop service of garlic production, processing and sales.
In 2006, the garlic output of 50,000 mu in this county reached 654.38+10,000 tons, with an average output value of 2,000 yuan per mu and a total output value of more than 6,543.8+100 million yuan. More than 90% products are sold all over the country, and exported to Southeast Asia, South Asia, Europe, the United States and other countries and regions, earning a lot of foreign exchange income for the country.
