The general fiber length of long-staple cotton is 33~39mm, and the length of long-staple cotton can reach 64mm;; The fineness is 7000-8500m/g, and the width is 15- 16 micron; High strength, generally about 4~5 grams of force per piece, and the fracture length is 33~40 kilometers; Turn more, 80~ 120 pieces /cm. Long staple cotton is mainly used for spinning high count yarn.
1. Characteristics of long-staple cotton fabrics
Long-staple cotton, also known as sea island cotton, is a kind of cultivated cotton and belongs to Malvaceae. The growing period of long-staple cotton is relatively long, and the growing environment needs a lot of heat. Under the condition of heat, the growth period of long-staple cotton is longer than that of upland cotton by about 10- 15 days. Long-staple cotton is superior to ordinary cotton in fineness and strength, and superior in softness.
2. Advantages and disadvantages of long-staple cotton fabric
Advantages:
(1) is rare and of good quality, comparable to the rare diamonds in South Africa.
(2) The fiber is soft and long, with fast temperature rise and strong warmth retention.
(3) The fineness and strength are much higher than ordinary cotton, so the softness is better.
(4) The fabric has high color fastness and does not fade when washed for a long time.
(5) Wear resistance, good wrinkle resistance and no pilling.
(6) Good air permeability and moisture drainage, and the air permeability is more than 5 times that of ordinary fabrics.
Disadvantages:
(1) The total amount and grade of raw cotton produced in China can't meet the textile demand, and it needs to import about 3.5 million tons of raw cotton every year;
(2) importing a large number of long-staple cotton every year not only consumes a lot of foreign exchange, but also increases the textile cost, resulting in a backlog of domestic cotton.
