Li wenping's life story
Dr. li wenping, a native of Quangang District, Fujian Province, was born in February of 19 12. As a child, he was brilliant, cheerful and tenacious, and full of patriotic enthusiasm. /kloc-When he was 0/2 years old, he went to Tianjin with his father Li Wenxiang and entered Huiwen Middle School. 15 years old, admitted to Tangshan jiaotong university preparatory class with excellent results. Two years later, he was promoted to the Department of Railway Architecture of Jiaotong University. 1934 graduated from university and worked as an intern in the west section of Longhai Road. Soon after, he received a notice from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, USA, agreeing that he would go to the United States to enter the graduate school of the school for further study. 1at the beginning of 935, li wenping went to the United States to study for a master's degree, majoring in railway economy. Under the guidance of a famous teacher, I went deep into the 35,000-mile system of a railway company and became an observer. He learned a lot of new knowledge in management and engineering and finished his studies. Then transfer to the famous University of Michigan to study for a doctorate.

Unexpectedly, just as he was diligently writing his doctoral thesis, the July 7th Lugouqiao Incident, which shocked China and foreign countries, happened in China. Under the indiscriminate bombing of the Japanese invaders, many railways and highways were destroyed, traffic was paralyzed, transportation was blocked, and the rivers and mountains of the motherland were riddled with holes. At this time, I am in a foreign country in li wenping, just like a Sang Song: "Although I am wearing a dress, my heart is still China's." He was anxious for his motherland and worried about the war of resistance, and immediately asked the school to return to China to participate in the war of resistance. Seeing that he was eager to save the country, the school made an exception and agreed to continue writing papers. Li wenping, at a young age, abandoned the excellent learning environment in the United States, abandoned the upcoming affluent life in the United States, and rushed back to the disaster-stricken motherland. After returning to China, he obeyed the arrangement and went to places where railways and highways needed to be repaired. At the request of the Hunan-Guizhou Railway Bureau, he assisted in the design department of the bureau, while studying the alignment survey in mountainous areas and continuing to write his doctoral thesis. 1939 In the summer, li wenping received a notice from the University of Michigan, and was officially awarded a doctorate on February 24, 1939 on the basis of the level of papers written in the United States and his performance after returning to China. 194165438+On February 8th, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, launched the Pacific War, and successively occupied parts of Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar and India. All foreign aid routes in War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and China have been cut off, making it difficult to support them. In order to break the blockade, the Combat Transportation Bureau of the Kuomintang Military Commission was ordered to rebuild the Yunnan-Myanmar Highway into a two-lane asphalt pavement and undertook this task.

Li wenping certainly knows the difficulty and danger of this task. His head was bombed by enemy planes, and the front terrain was complex and difficult. At present, he goes straight to Yunnan without saying anything. After reporting for duty, we learned that this project was undertaken by us, and the United States provided road construction machinery and materials, so we needed senior engineers who were proficient in English. He lived up to expectations and immediately threw himself into the battle of changing the crooked line and going down the steep slope to rectify the roadbed. He supervised more than 10,000 migrant workers and technicians to work hard, and even personally demonstrated asphalt spraying technology for migrant workers to learn. Finally, he finished the task ahead of schedule and was rewarded by the highway bureau. Seeing a large number of military aid materials coming in through this route, the Japanese army stepped up its bombing efforts and dispatched hundreds of planes to bomb Huitong Bridge. Li Wenping, together with the road guards, carried forward the spirit of Chinese sons and daughters resisting Japan to the end and not being afraid of sacrifice, and gave their lives to repair and ensure wartime transportation. Many people gave their lives for it.

1On May 2, 942, the Japanese army dispatched ground troops to attack Baoshan on a large scale, and dispatched planes to bombard it indiscriminately. I was shot and caught fire in my office and repair shop on Baoshan Highway. When li wenping came to rescue the road-building machinery, the Japanese vanguard troops were approaching Huitong Bridge. In order to stop the Japanese invaders from advancing, the China army was forced to blow up the bridge, and the two armies confronted each other for a year and a half. During this period, the Highway Bureau set up an engineering corps, with li wenping as deputy chief engineer and deputy chief engineer, who was responsible for training mechanized road construction personnel, thus greatly improving our level of mechanized road construction and preparing for road construction counterattack.

1944 began a full-scale counterattack. We dispatched 200,000 troops to attack the Japanese army on the other side of the Nujiang River. With the full cooperation of the allied air force, after four months' efforts, we wiped out the Japanese army and recovered the lost land in western Yunnan. In order to resume military transportation as soon as possible, China and the United States agreed in Chongqing to open a land passage, namely the Sino-Indian Highway, which is 1 200 km long in Yunnan, and we mobilized 20,000 migrant workers to build it. Overseas, it is 1.554 km long and is under the responsibility of the US military. Li wenping is specifically responsible for the domestic engineering technology, and is responsible for the contact and coordination with the US Army Corps of Engineers. After overcoming numerous difficulties and obstacles, by the beginning of 1945, this Sino-Indian highway, known as "War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression artery", and the oil pipelines laid along it were built one after another, and the timely opening to traffic ensured the final victory of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression.

1in April, 945, li wenping was awarded the first-class medal of the army, navy and air force by the Kuomintang Military Committee for his "contribution to the construction of the Sino-Indian highway". 1August 945 15, when Japan surrendered, the National Government awarded li wenping the Anti-Japanese Victory Medal. In addition, the US military headquarters also awarded li wenping a banner embroidered with the route and opening date of the China-India highway, and reported li wenping's achievements to the US government. President Truman awarded the American Medal of Freedom and deposited it in the Pentagon.

After the national liberation, Sino-US relations have not improved. It was not until July 1984, 38 years later, that li wenping went to the United States to attend this special award ceremony. At this time, he was 72 years old.

With the approval of the Ministry of Culture, the above three medals, pennants and certificates were exhibited at the Chinese Revolution Museum in Tiananmen Square, Beijing from July 11year to July/9901day.

People at home and abroad who visited the exhibition not only praised li wenping's patriotism, but also were moved by his courage to preserve these precious cultural relics after several disasters. 1In August, 949, li wenping refused Chiang Kai-shek's request to go to Taiwan Province Province and established contact with the Chinese People's Liberation Army Railway Corps. Soon, following the instructions of the Railway Corps, li wenping saved a large number of road-building machinery for the construction of new China, and was appointed as the chief engineer of the newly established Construction Engineering Department. After the liberation of the whole country, he successively participated in the construction of major projects such as Foziling Reservoir, Guanting Reservoir, Changchun No.1 Automobile Factory and Yalu River Airport, and was arranged by the Government Affairs Bureau of the Central People's Government to form the Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge Advisory Committee with Mao Yisheng and others to guide the construction of the first Yangtze River Bridge.

Unfortunately, when his career was in full swing, an unexpected political disaster suddenly came. 1958 at the end of the anti-"right" movement, Zhang Boju, the former minister of communications, was labeled as a "big rightist", and all kinds of false words were put on li wenping, who had a working relationship with Zhang Boju, so that he was wrongly classified as a "rightist" and sent to Xingkai Lake Farm in Beidahuang for labor reform, and was dismissed from public office for reeducation through labor.

Li wenping knows that he has never made any right-wing remarks, and his relationship with Zhang Boju is just a working relationship. He firmly believes that China * * * production party and people's government, his own problems will be clear one day. In the days of li wenping's disaster, a kind person advised him to find a way to escape from China. Yes, he has many relatives, classmates and friends overseas, and his sister's family are all in the United States, especially some colleagues he met during the Anti-Japanese War. Now he has the opportunity and popularity to flee to the United States at the top of American military and political circles. But his heart has long been closely linked with the motherland, and he can't live without it.

In the face of bad luck, li wenping calmly responded, leaving his wife and children behind, and came to the cold Great Northern Wilderness from the bustling capital alone. He is not discouraged. Although political disaster can limit his physical freedom, it cannot imprison his freedom of thought. The land of Xingkai Lake Farm is an endless swamp with no drains and no roads. The work arranged by the farm is to dig ditches and drain water. Li Wenping and other workers step on knee-deep mud in the swamp every day and dig hard with a shovel. He forgot his humiliation, thought about how to turn this vast fertile land into fertile land day and night, and finally came up with a scientific method of "blasting into a canal". His suggestion was supported by farm leaders, who immediately made their own explosives and organized personnel to carry out directional blasting on large drainage systems. Li wenping's "one shot into the canal" method can blow up the drainage canal in 1 in one day, which is much more advanced than manual canal digging and has caused a sensation in Xingkai Lake Farm. After two years of hard work, 60,000 mu of swamp drainage system was built for the farm, forming a network, so that all the farm land was planted with soybeans. After the swamp thawed in spring, it was muddy everywhere, making transportation very difficult. By using blasting technology, li wenping deepened and broadened the artificial channels, which enabled more than 200,000 mu of land in Fiona Fang between the main yard and the sub-yard to be transported by water, thus realizing the river network. Then the road planning of the whole farm was designed, and the construction was organized after the approval of the field leaders. The road network of nearly 100 kilometers on the farm has also been built. In less than five years, he has made earth-shaking changes in Xingkai Lake Farm and made important contributions to farm construction.

1In April, 962, the General Station held the Eighth Annual Reward and Punishment Conference of Cable Broadcasting, announcing the removal of the "Rightist" hat and the lifting of reeducation through labor. Cai, the general manager, said with emotion: "I have never seen a rightist like li wenping, who has suffered so much injustice and is still working so hard!"

During the ten-year turmoil, although li wenping was no longer a rightist, he still had a "hat off" tail, so it was inevitable. Criticism, looting of property, wandering in the streets and living in cowsheds have become commonplace. Once again, he faced bad luck, did not escape, did not leave the motherland. At the end of the Cultural Revolution, he left Beijing for the second time and was sent to Taiyuan Cement Plant for labor reform.

While taking part in labor, li wenping used his wisdom and technology to solve problems for Taiyuan Cement Plant. He used 52 tons of explosives to carry out blasting in the stone factory, so that 70,000 cubic meters of silty sand was thrown into the cliff obliquely, that is, oblique blasting, which avoided the damage of nearby 35,000 kV high-voltage power lines and saved a lot of manpower and funds for Taiyuan Cement Factory. This is also one of the earliest "directional blasting" projects in China. After the Third Plenary Session of the 11th CPC Central Committee, li wenping's unjust case was completely rehabilitated. He used to be the chief engineer of China Building Materials Construction Corporation, and was elected as a member of the Fifth, Sixth and Seventh China People's Political Consultative Conference, a member of the Eighth, Ninth, Tenth and Eleventh Central Committee of China Agricultural Workers' Democratic Party, and a member of the Central Advisory Committee. 1979, Mudanjiang power plant decided to build a dam with a height of 20 meters and a length of 350 meters and adopt directional blasting technology. However, the dam site is located between two mountains, belonging to wide valley and gentle slope terrain, and was once regarded as the "forbidden zone" of directional blasting. There is no precedent at home and abroad to build a dam of this scale at one time. Li wenping thought that his predecessors did not dare to think about it. He used more than 1000 tons of explosives, and implemented millisecond blasting and throwing accumulation method, throwing the slungshot in the main and auxiliary mountains into the valley according to the drug power and accumulating it in turn. After the smoke cleared, a stone dam with a height of 20 meters and a length of more than 300 meters was magically lying between the two valleys. This alone saved the country nearly one million yuan, two years ahead of the manual construction.

1August, 986, li wenping retired with honor. He was 74 years old at that time, but he was in good health. He especially thought of his bumpy life and failed to work well for a long time. Now that he has retired, he still has to work hard to make up for the past. To this end, he has not been idle all day and continues to shine for the country and society.

The four modernizations need talents, and China is already short of talents. A few years ago, he saw some young intellectuals from China who were sent out for further study by the state and stayed abroad, and never came back after their studies. He felt very sorry. So he came up with the idea of using foreign funds and teachers to run universities in China to train and build talents, which can not only save a lot of foreign exchange for the country, but also avoid brain drain. To this end, he made a special trip to the United States with Professor Yang, former vice governor of Anhui Province, to discuss joint ventures with Rockefeller Foundation and VB Foundation in China, and won $35,000 to invite 1 1 a famous American management science expert to give lectures at the School of Management affiliated to Chinese Academy of Sciences.

In his later years, li wenping was still young and energetic, and he accepted new things very quickly. He learned that there is a "science park" in Britain to accelerate the development of new technologies, which is a new trend of scientific development in the world today. He immediately contacted eight units, including the Science and Technology Development Center of Beijing University and the Software Laboratory of Chinese Academy of Sciences, to jointly organize the "Great Wall University Science Park", and also contacted the American University Education Research Institute and American celebrities to get support. By mutual agreement, he set up a joint venture company in the name of the United States and China. 1987 12 16. China and the United States signed an agreement to develop new technologies and products for the promotion of joint ventures between the United States and China. Later, this move made a good contribution to the development of 13 new technology projects such as laser crystal, artificial crystal, composite safety glass and computer software in China.

After retirement, li wenping also served as the chairman and director of the academic committee of the blasting engineering company of China Academy of Sciences. He used his superb technology and rich experience in blasting engineering to make suggestions for the successful development of blasting engineering companies. His hard and fruitful work for decades has won high praise from colleagues at home and abroad. 1986, china civil engineering society awarded him an honorary certificate, commending him: "For half a century, he has worked hard for civil engineering construction in China and achieved outstanding results." The American Society of Blasting Engineering also invited him to read a paper at the annual meeting.

Li wenping often said: "As long as I am alive, my professional expertise will be unconditionally dedicated to the motherland." The party and the country have not forgotten this tortured former hero who is still actively contributing to the war of resistance. 1On August 8th, 989, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China Selection Committee awarded him the National Elite Award for Doing Good for the Elderly in the Great Hall of the People. 1993 the State Council awarded him a "special contribution" certificate and special government allowance.
