In recent years, China citizens are often caught by Pakistani customs when they leave the country with excess US dollars in cash. The parties are generally detained and charged with criminal offences, and the US dollar cash they carry with them is confiscated.
Pakistani law has the following provisions on taking cash out of the country: 1. It is strictly forbidden to take foreign exchange cash exceeding 1 000 USD (or equivalent in other currencies) out of the country; 2. It is forbidden to take Pakistani currency exceeding 10000 out of the country; 3. When the destination is India, it is forbidden to take Pakistani currency exceeding 3000 rupees out of the country.
The Consulate General of China in Lahore reminds China enterprises and citizens in Pakistan Punjab Province to abide by the customs regulations of Pakistan Airport and not to carry large amounts of cash when entering or leaving the country to avoid adverse consequences.
