First, the classification of study abroad expenses
First of all, after determining the school to study abroad, overseas students have to pay the following fees: study intention fee (not necessarily included), study tuition fee, study accommodation fee, etc.
1, learning intention fee
The so-called intention fee for studying abroad means that international students need to pay a certain amount of deposit to the school they want to attend before entering school to confirm that they accept the offer and will enter school. Generally speaking, the amount of this deposit is not very large, but if an international student fails to pay in time, the school will regard the international student as not ready for admission and will not reserve a place for the student.
2. Tuition for studying abroad
There is no need to explain the tuition fees for studying abroad. If you don't even pay the tuition, you can't talk about it ... It should be noted that the average international student will issue a tuition bill within a period of time after getting the offer. International students need to transfer their tuition fees to the school account before the due date marked on the bill (note that it is the school account instead of remittance), otherwise they will have to pay a certain late fee. At the same time, if the tuition fee for studying abroad is delayed, then international students will not be able to choose courses. If you miss the course selection time, it may lead to delayed graduation. Therefore, the importance of timely payment of tuition fees for studying abroad is self-evident.
3. Accommodation fee for studying abroad
Accommodation for studying abroad is the fee that international students need to pay when they stay in the school dormitory. It should be noted that studying abroad also has an expiration date. If it is overdue, there is probably no dormitory to live in.
In addition, living expenses are also an important expense for international students abroad. The amount of living expenses is directly related to the scale of the city where international students live. Just like the first-tier cities in China, there will be higher living expenses in Beijing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. As for the living expenses, you can't call the account of the school you want to study abroad, but you need international students to open an American bank account in the United States. Later, in the "bank account opening" section, you will mention how to open an American bank account in the United States.
Second, the channels of payment for studying abroad
As an international student, there are no more than four payment channels for studying abroad: bank telegraphic transfer, third-party payment company, credit card and traveler's check. What are their characteristics? Listen to me slowly.
1, the most common bank wire transfer
When it comes to bank wire transfer, it is probably the first payment method that many parents of foreign students will think of when they mention paying tuition fees. But banks will only accept foreign exchange business on weekdays. The first step is to exchange foreign exchange, and convert RMB into US dollars according to the exchange rate at that time, but it should be noted that each person only has a foreign exchange quota of US$ 50,000 per year. After the foreign exchange is completed, you need to fill out a wire transfer form with the account name, account number, bank name, bank address, swift code and ABA number of the foreign students' school. Almost all of these contents need to be filled in English. The general bank wire transfer fee is about 0. 1%, and the wire transfer fee is about 150 yuan. After the money is remitted, if you need to audit the accounts, you need to pay extra for each audit.
To sum up, although bank wire transfer is not expensive, it has no bright spot and the whole process is very troublesome. Therefore, I don't recommend that international students use bank telegraphic transfer to pay for their studies.
2, the most convenient-third-party payment company
In foreign countries, it is normal for third-party payment companies to help students pay tuition fees. However, foreign payment companies rarely help China students pay their tuition fees, and even if they do, the fees are not considerable. In fact, there are also third-party payment companies in China that pay tuition fees for international students, and their business is much better than that of foreign payment companies.
As an experienced person, I have tried several different payment companies to pay tuition fees. If I want to recommend one, I will recommend Yi Sihui. There is no love for no reason in this world. I recommend Yi Sihui for a reason. Yi Sihui has the following advantages:
(1) Pure online operation, with online banking, you can pay your tuition at any time, and you don't have to queue up at the bank on weekdays.
(2) The handling fee is capped in 80 yuan -200 yuan, and there is no hidden fee, which is half cheaper than the bank handling fee.
(3) Directly connect with thousands of overseas universities, and complete the tuition payment process that banks may not be able to complete in three minutes without filling out complicated wire transfer forms.
(4) Tuition fees can be paid directly in RMB, without foreign exchange or personal foreign exchange quota.
(5) After registration, there will be a dedicated customer service to add WeChat, and you can answer your questions at any time during the order placing process.
(6) Full payment (I am no longer afraid that the tuition fee will not be enough after transfer), tuition due reminder (due date nemesis) and tuition payment reminder (saving "wasted money" in the audit) are all value-added services provided by Yi Sihui. You can also check low-cost air tickets for free, give preferential car rental codes and provide internship opportunities.
From my personal point of view, e-mail is much stronger than bank wire transfer. Anyway, I always pay my tuition by email.
3, the fastest-credit card
If your tuition for studying abroad is about to expire, and all other payment methods can't make it arrive in time, and you are a beggar (please meet these two conditions), then credit card is your only choice. If we want to say what is the characteristic of credit card, it is fast, which turns tuition payment into a kind of consumption behavior, and the real instant payment. However, it also has an inevitable harm-too expensive! It is absolutely painful to pay tens of thousands of tuition fees for every 2.6% handling fee. So if you are not a beggar, please honestly put your study abroad expenses into the school account before the due date.
