You can get his account number and deposit it directly at the counter. If you can't deposit it in a single currency, you can only return it to him in cash (note that you and he are both in the same city).
If it is cross-market, it will involve more problems. Generally, foreign exchange can only be remitted to an account with the same name, or it can prove that the payee is in the name of your immediate family. This is the foreign exchange management policy.
