Can I settle in RMB without digitization?
Renminbi has been used in international calculations, but its current share is relatively small. Up to now, nearly 100 countries have reserved RMB as foreign exchange reserves. As of September 30, 2020, according to the data released by the International Monetary Fund, the share of RMB in global foreign exchange reserves has expanded to 2.04%, achieving a five-year upward trend. In terms of energy security and cooperation, Iran and some countries in the Middle East have begun to seek direct use of RMB for exchange rate settlement trade, which is also a reality that we must see at present. Of course, it is undeniable that the US dollar still accounts for 6 1% of global foreign exchange reserves, followed by the euro, accounting for about 20%, followed by the Japanese yen, accounting for 5.64%.
