Uruguay’s foreign exchange reserves include RMB. The Central Bank of Uruguay was established in 1967 and is responsible for issuing the Uruguayan peso. The Central Bank of Uruguay is also responsible for managing foreign exchange reserves and the yuan and supervising the country's private banks. Vergara believes that after the RMB was included in the Special Drawing Rights (SDR) currency basket in 2016, more and more central banks have adopted the RMB as a foreign exchange reserve currency.
