Can a representative office open a bank account?
With the approval of the Administration of Foreign Exchange of China Government, the representative office may open a foreign exchange account in a bank in China to receive the funds allocated by foreign enterprises to the representative office. Representative offices are also allowed to open RMB accounts to receive foreign currency remittances in the above-mentioned foreign exchange accounts and pay for the activities of representatives in China. Except for the funds allocated by foreign enterprises to the representative office, the above two accounts of the representative office cannot receive funds from any other sources, nor can they collect or transfer any money for foreign enterprises. It is very important that the representative office shall not use the accounts of other enterprises, organizations or individuals.
