The crime of smuggling counterfeit currency refers to the act of violating national currency management and customs regulations, evading customs supervision, and illegally transporting, carrying or mailing currency into or out of the country (border) knowing that it is counterfeit currency. On August 29, 2015, the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress voted to adopt the "Criminal Law Amendment (9)" to amend my country's current criminal law. According to the amendment, the death penalty for smuggling counterfeit currency has been eliminated.
