For user equipment, TR-069 mainly completes the following four aspects:

One is automatic configuration of user equipment and dynamic service configuration. For ACS, each user equipment can mark itself (such as model, version, etc. ) in the agreement. According to settable rules, ACS can publish the configuration to a specific user device or a group of user devices. CPE can automatically request configuration information in ACS after power-on, and ACS can also initiate configuration at any time. This function can realize the "zero configuration installation" function of user equipment, or control the dynamic change of service parameters from the network side.

The second is the management of software and firmware of user equipment. TR-069 protocol provides the function of managing and downloading software and firmware in user equipment. ACS can identify the version number of the user equipment, decide whether to remotely update the software version of the user equipment, and know whether it is successful after the update is completed. For example, when the user equipment needs to load new software to realize new business functions, or when there are bugs in the current software that must be fixed, this function can realize remote management and upgrade of the user equipment.

The third is to monitor the status and performance of user equipment. TR-069 defines the method for ACS to monitor the status and performance of user equipment. It includes some common performance parameters, which can reflect the current working state of user equipment. In addition, standard syntax is provided, and the operator can define additional parameters.

The fourth is the diagnosis of communication fault. TR-069 also defines the user's ability to self-diagnose and report. For example, under the instruction of ACS, users can check the connectivity and bandwidth between users and network service providers by ping or other means, and return the test results to ACS. In this way, the operator can simply locate the equipment failures reported by users and handle them accordingly by operating at the remote end.
