1. Does the civil service exam require IELTS scores?
First of all, we must understand that IELTS scores are not required for all positions of civil servants. There are more than 400 positions that require IELTS scores, including foreign affairs departments and news editorial departments. Different positions in the civil service examination have different requirements for IELTS scores.
Second, the requirements of IELTS scores for civil service positions
The Legal Affairs Department, the International Liaison Department, the Development Research Department and the directly under the authority Party Committee of the Council for the Promotion of International Trade require IELTS score of 7 and above, and TOEFL 105 and above;
The Personnel Department, Management Inspection Department and Balance of Payments Department under the State Administration of Foreign Exchange require IELTS score above 6 and TOEFL score above 90.
The Maritime Safety Administration under the Ministry of Transport requires IELTS score above 6.5 and TOEFL score above 90;
The foreign investment department under the business department requires IELTS 6.5 or above and TOEFL 95 or above;
The Coal Bureau under the National Energy Administration requires IELTS 6.5 or above and TOEFL 90 or above;
The general office, comprehensive department, legal department and other departments under the Ministry of Finance require IELTS 6.5 or above and TOEFL 90 or above;
Integration of defense and civilian technologies Promotion Department under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology requires IELTS 6.5 or above or TOEFL 90 or above.
