According to the regulations of the State Administration of Foreign Exchange, China UnionPay imposes restrictions on overseas credit card consumption of UnionPay cards, including three categories: complete prohibition, amount restriction and complete liberalization.

The amount of a cardholder's single transaction in a merchant with a limit shall not exceed the equivalent of US$ 5,000, and whether the credit card consumption is limited by the limit depends on the type of merchant sent by the merchant.

At present, the setting and management of the transaction limit of UnionPay debit card are all in the issuing bank itself, and UnionPay only plays the role of standardization and management. Therefore, domestic card-issuing banks will control the large consumption limit of POS transactions of our debit cards in overseas areas (mainly Macao) according to the needs of risk control.
