1. Malta
Malta, with Catholicism as the state religion, is the only EU member state that prohibits divorce. Maltese law stipulates that men and women are not allowed to remarry after marriage. When men and women get married, they must promise each other in the church: "Only death will separate us", so remarriage for any reason (even if the spouse dies) is considered a violation of the oath and is not allowed.
2. Philippines
The divorce ban in the Philippines originated from 300 years of colonial rule in Spain. This makes Catholicism the largest religion in the Philippines, followed by Christianity. Like the Vatican, the Philippines forbids abortion and divorce for religious reasons.
3. Swaziland
Swazi culture believes that marriage should be spent with one's partner for life, so there is not even the word divorce in Swazi. However, polygamy is recognized in Swazi culture, so rich men in Swaziland often have several wives.
