China's administrative divisions are divided into four levels:
Level 1: provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government.
The second level: regions, leagues, autonomous prefectures and prefecture-level cities.
The third level: counties, autonomous counties, banners, autonomous banners and county-level cities.
Level 4: townships, ethnic townships and towns.
The current administrative divisions of China belong to the first level, with 34 administrative units, namely, 23 provinces, 5 autonomous regions, 4 municipalities directly under the Central Government and 2 special administrative regions. Below the provincial level is the prefecture level, below the prefecture level is the county level, and below the county level is the township.
