Kazakhstan is rich in oil and gas resources, but due to backward infrastructure and refining technology, a large amount of foreign exchange obtained from crude oil export has to be used to import oil and gas products. The entry of capital and technology in China has greatly changed this situation. As a symbolic energy channel connecting the "Belt and Road" facilities, China-Central Asia natural gas pipelines A, B and C, which run through the three Central Asian countries, pass through Kazakhstan with a distance of 1.300 km, while the southern natural gas pipeline jointly built by China and Kazakhstan opens up the second channel for the transmission of natural gas resources between Central Asia and China. Clean energy from Central Asia has benefited more than 500 million people in 25 provinces, municipalities, autonomous regions and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
Sino-Kazakhstan energy cooperation not only benefits hundreds of millions of people in China, but also provides strong support for social and economic development and improvement of people's livelihood in Kazakhstan. According to statistics, only PetroChina's shareholding project in Kazakhstan has paid tens of billions of dollars to the local government, creating a large number of jobs and cultivating a group of high-quality talents.
Over the past 20 years, China-Kazakhstan energy cooperation has achieved fruitful results. Under the "One Belt, One Road" initiative, the construction and operation of China-Kazakhstan oil and gas pipelines have ushered in new historical opportunities, and the two peoples have actually enjoyed the fruits of cooperation.
