Bank of China can't exchange all national currencies, but generally can only exchange major national currencies.

Residents in China will exchange money with their personal ID cards at financial institutions designated by the People's Bank of China (including but not limited to Bank of China). This has nothing to do with whether to go abroad or not.

Each person can exchange up to $50,000 or equivalent foreign currency every year; There is no minimum.
