Chaoshan patriots
During the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression period, the patriotic enthusiasm of overseas hipsters was unprecedented. Through various forms and channels, they strongly supported the anti-Japanese struggle of the motherland in terms of financial resources, material resources and manpower. After the outbreak of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, overseas Chinese from all over the country rallied around various original societies and newly established national salvation groups and actively carried out patriotic activities. For example, Chaozhou Guild Hall in Thailand, Shantang in Baode, Chinese General Chamber of Commerce chaired by Ante Yan Guang, the leader of overseas Chinese in Chenghai, and Puning Association in Bangkok were all important organizations that organized overseas Chinese at that time. Especially under the call of Yan Guang, an ant, "Resist aggression and save the country with all one's strength", overseas Chinese in Thailand took action in succession and set off a patriotic upsurge of resisting Japan and saving the country. 1In August, 937, the Singapore-Malaysia Overseas Chinese Relief Conference was held, and the Nanyang Overseas Chinese Relief Conference (hereinafter referred to as "Nanqiao Conference") was formally established the following year. Subsequently, overseas Chinese from all over Nanyang successively set up relief societies, large and small, to donate money and materials to support the motherland's war of resistance. Set up a newspaper school to publicize that Thailand is a place where a large number of overseas immigrants have poured in. A number of patriots have emerged in the cultural circles. Thanks to their efforts, many newspapers and periodicals were founded to resist Japan and save the nation, such as China Daily, Bangkok Daily, National Daily and Truth Daily, which had great influence on overseas Chinese and were very popular. In addition, some patriotic organizations also organize reading meetings, reports, singing, lion dancing, Chao Opera performances and so on. Carry out patriotic propaganda to overseas Chinese everywhere. Singapore's "Lingdong Reading Club" has assembled a group of patriotic youths by organizing reading and reading newspapers. Zhang Yisheng, an overseas Chinese in Vietnam, organized a Chaozhou Opera band to "walk and sing" in various places during the Spring Festival. The Thai Chaozhou Opera Troupe adapted the true story of resisting Japan and saving the nation into a script and put it on the stage for benefit. In addition, the overseas Chinese school was also an important position to publicize the anti-Japanese patriotic thought at that time. In Xinmin, Shi Chong and Qi Ming schools in Thailand, and Xinzhong and Nanqiao schools in Vietnam, hipsters such as Xu, Fang, Zhuang Shiping and Wang worked in these schools successively, and trained a group of patriotic overseas Chinese. After returning home, they joined the anti-Japanese teams such as the New Fourth Army, the Eighth Route Army and the Dongjiang Column. Generous Donations and Materials to Support the Great Cause of the Anti-Japanese War After the outbreak of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, the biggest assistance of overseas Chinese to the motherland was to launch a large-scale donation and material movement at all levels of overseas Chinese. The vast number of overseas Chinese have generously donated money and enthusiastically expressed their patriotic wishes to their compatriots at home. At the initiative of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, overseas Chinese in Thailand set up an organization to raise relief funds and persuade patriotic bonds, with famous patriotic overseas Chinese leaders such as Ant, Chen Jingchuan, Liao Gongpu, Zheng Zibin and Yu as the chairman and vice chairman. Overseas Chinese delegations and patriotic organizations organized fund-raising teams and charity performance teams in succession, and soon set off a wave of fund-raising for disaster relief, medicine donation and warm clothes collection in Bangkok and other places. In addition to overseas Chinese businessmen donating huge sums of money, the vast number of overseas Chinese also make monthly pledges, and primary school students consciously save pocket money and are willing to donate it to the motherland. From June 1938 to October 165438 to April 1939, overseas Chinese in Thailand donated more than 2.4 million yuan in half a year. According to statistics, after the beginning of the Anti-Japanese War, overseas Chinese in Thailand donated more than 6 million yuan, not including publicizing patriotic bonds and donating a large number of anti-Japanese materials. In terms of personal donations, Ant Yan Guang remitted donations to Guangdong and Hong Kong many times, and also invested in buying a large number of medicines and two cars. Patriotic overseas Chinese Chen Zigu donated 60,000 yuan in Thailand, together with his personal legacy of more than 200,000 yuan. This donation solved the two-month salary of the New Fourth Army and the warm clothes of that year. Commander Ye Ting praised him for "making wealth and fame like floating clouds". The Bayi Club in Chaozhou, Singapore held fund-raising activities in 1937 and 1940 respectively, raising RMB 350,000 and RMB 470,000 respectively, and also mobilizing overseas Chinese to buy RMB 650,000 patriotic bonds. From 1939 to 1940, Li Xiaqing, a hipster patriotic female pilot, flew to various parts of America for many times to publicize anti-Japanese fund-raising. Unfortunately, she was wrecked in an air show and gave her young life. During the Anti-Japanese War, the influx of people from Thailand, New Zealand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Hong Kong donated huge sums of money to buy and transport rice more than once to help mainland compatriots and villagers in Gigi Lai, thus alleviating the severe famine caused by the Japanese occupation to some extent. In addition, Thailand's Chen, Ant and others have visited the southwest of the motherland, calling on overseas Chinese businessmen to set up industries in Yunnan and Chaoshan areas to revitalize China. Chen and Ant invested 1 10,000 yuan and 1 10,000 yuan in southwest China, respectively, realizing the patriotic desire of saving the country by investing and rejuvenating the country through industry. The story of returning to China to kill the enemy heroically is an epic. When the Japanese invaders invaded, the enemy was in sight. Overseas Chinese believe that "the rise and fall of the country is the responsibility of overseas Chinese", and many overseas Chinese youths leave their places of residence and set foot on the land of the motherland to join the army voluntarily. At that time, there were many touching cases of abandoning the rich life, leaving their loved ones to go back to China to kill the enemy and committing suicide at home. Since the beginning of the Anti-Japanese War, overseas Chinese from Thailand and Vietnam have returned to China in batches, forming a service group for overseas Chinese, a service group for mechanics and a volunteer army to kill the enemy. The third batch of Vietnamese returning service groups consisted of 33 people, all of whom were Chaozhou youths. All 74 soldiers of the Vietnam Overseas Chinese Youth Scout Field Service Corps were assigned to fight in Chaoshan. 1937 The Chaozhou Association of Hong Kong also organized a service group to go back to work. Some overseas Chinese deported from Thailand returned to Chaoshan to organize anti-enemy comrades' meetings. At the same time, overseas Chinese also organized overseas Chinese rescue teams and overseas Chinese western medicine service teams to rescue wounded soldiers at the front. At that time, there was a Siamese overseas Chinese rescue team in Chaoan County. Mr Ante Yan Guang has done a lot of work in sending anti-Japanese youth to China. He set up an ambulance team in Deshantang, a newspaper office, and trained a group of ambulance workers for the motherland. He also tried his best to support the patriotic actions of overseas Chinese youths returning to China. According to incomplete statistics, during the Anti-Japanese War, more than 2,000 students and workers returned to Thailand to join the Anti-Japanese War. In War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, many Chaoshan youths, such as Yang, Zhang Hui, Xu Ying and Wang Li, gave their precious lives for the motherland. In the great anti-Japanese national war, overseas Chinese carried forward the glorious tradition of loving their country and their hometown, and supported the motherland in all aspects with high patriotic enthusiasm. Their important role and outstanding contribution to overseas Chinese at that time will always be recorded in the patriotic history of overseas Chinese in Chaoshan.
