Liberia issued Chinese silver coins out of the need to create a national business card.

Since the 1990s, Liberia has issued a large number of commemorative coins, either out of the need to create a national business card or to obtain valuable foreign exchange.

The themes are broad and international. Huaqiang, Princess Diana series, F1 Grand Prix series, World War II series, to name a few. Surprisingly, Liberia’s commemorative coins have a strong Chinese theme. A closer analysis shows that Liberia is the country that issues the most Chinese-themed commemorative coins overseas.
