What does the Center for Disease Control and Prevention do
According to the Approval of the Central Editor's Office on the Establishment of Institutions under the National Health Commission (Central Editor's Office Reply [2018] No. 90), the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has been established as an institution directly under the National Health Commission. The main responsibilities are:
(1) To carry out work on disease prevention and control, emergency response to public **** health emergencies, environmental and occupational health, nutritional health, aging health, maternal and child health, radiological health, and school health, and to provide technical support and consulting advice for the state to formulate laws and regulations, policies, plans, and programs on public **** health.
(2) To organize the development of national public **** health technical programs and guidelines, and undertake the comprehensive management of health standards related to public **** health; to undertake laboratory biosafety guidance and technical support for the Patriotic Health Movement; to undertake technical support for the implementation of the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control; to carry out health education, health science and health promotion work.
(3) to carry out infectious diseases, chronic diseases, occupational diseases, endemic diseases, public **** health emergencies and suspected abnormal reactions to vaccination monitoring and national health monitoring and evaluation, to carry out investigations of major public **** health problems and risk assessment of hazards; research and development of interventions and national immunization planning and organization and implementation of major public **** health problems. Undertake the construction of CDC information system, management and big data application service technical support.
(d) participate in national public **** health emergency preparedness and response, organization and development of epidemiological investigations of food safety incidents and health treatment of relevant technical specifications. Guidance for local public **** health emergency investigation, disposal and emergency response capacity building and epidemiological investigation of food safety incidents. Undertake new water-related products, new disinfection products, the technical review.
(E) to carry out disease prevention and control, emergency response to public health emergencies, public health key scientific research and technological development, to promote new theories of disease prevention and control, new technologies, new methods, and promote the development of public **** health science and technology innovation.
(6) To carry out postgraduate education, continuing education and related professional and technical training in the field of public **** health professions.
(vii) To guide the local implementation of national disease prevention and control planning and programs, to carry out operational guidance for local disease prevention and control agencies, and to participate in work related to professional and technical assessment and evaluation.
(viii) To carry out global public **** health activities and international exchanges and cooperation in the field of public **** health, and to carry out relevant international assistance tasks.
