Statistical data show that the national population*** was 141.26 million, an increase of 72.06 million, or 5.38 percent, compared with 1,339.72 million in 2010, with an average annual growth rate of 0.53 percent, a decrease of 0.04 percentage points from the average annual growth rate of 0.57 percent from 2000 to 2010. The data show that China's population has continued to grow at a low rate over the past 10 years.
China's demographic problems:
China's aging presents the situation and characteristics of large number, fast speed, big difference and heavy task. The number of elderly people is large, and the speed of population aging is fast. By the end of 2021, the number of elderly people aged 60 and above will reach 267 million, accounting for 18.9% of the total population; the number of elderly people aged 65 and above will reach more than 200 million, accounting for 14.2% of the total population.
The total number of elderly people aged 60 and above will exceed 300 million, accounting for more than 20% of the total population, and enter the stage of moderate aging.
Around 2035, the number of elderly people aged 60 and above will exceed 400 million, accounting for more than 30% of the total population, and enter the stage of heavy aging.
