In recent years, with the continuous development of the Internet era, data has become a resource, and for enterprises, data is also one of the cores of an enterprise. Huawei, Tencent, Ali and other well-known Internet technology companies have a large number of users behind them, and a huge amount of data needs to be processed and stored every day. The importance of data is self-evident.
Behind every Internet technology enterprise, there will be at least one data center. 20 15 The first national data center "Disaster Recovery Center" settled in Guizhou. Since then, Guizhou has become the first choice for major Internet technology companies to build data centers. Huawei, Tencent, Ali and other domestic enterprises, and even American Apple have settled here.
On April 28th, 20 18, Tencent Gui 'an Seven-Star Data Center showed the construction site for the first time in CCTV's "News Live Room" column. This cave is used to place the core data of Tencent's business. 20 18 on may 26th, Alibaba Cloud officially announced that it would build a global filing center and technical support center in Guiyang. Huawei is more powerful. On February 20th, 65438, just a few days ago, the unveiling ceremony of Gui 'an New District of Huawei Cloud Computing Technology Co., Ltd. was held in Gui 'an New District of Guizhou, which indicated that the data center built by Huawei Cloud in five years was officially commercialized, and it will reach 1 10,000 servers in the future.
When it comes to Guizhou, everyone's first impression is that the scenery is pleasant and the environment is beautiful, but because it is located in the west, the economy is not very developed. So what is the charm of this province to attract so many Internet technology companies to build data centers here? The author believes that the most important reasons are as follows.
First, Guizhou has a superior geographical position, a suitable climate and a good environment.
The data center is used to store data, so a lot of equipment needs to be put in it, and it runs all the year round. When there are more devices, how to deal with the heat dissipation of the devices will be faced. If the machine continues to operate at high temperature, it is likely to fail, which will not only bring huge economic losses, but also endanger data security.
In order to solve the heat dissipation problem, Microsoft once made a waterproof layer for its own data server, and then put the server in the sea to dissipate heat with seawater, but this is not a long-term solution. After all, putting the server in the sea for a long time will damage the service life of the server and it is difficult to maintain.
As we all know, Guizhou is located in the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, and most of it is dominated by plateau mountains. There is no cold in winter, no heat in summer, and the temperature difference is relatively small. Is a natural summer resort, but also conducive to the maintenance of data center servers. Therefore, this climate environment is very suitable for the operation of big data servers. Moreover, Guizhou is located in the west, far from the ocean, and will not worry about being threatened by natural disasters such as typhoons or tsunamis.
There is another key point. Data centers focus on security. There are many mountains and caves in Guizhou, and the data center is very hidden inside. The constant temperature condition in the cave also provides favorable conditions for the operation of data equipment.
Second, land resources and power resources are abundant, which saves costs for enterprises.
Some people say that since the database is so important, it should be placed in first-tier cities such as Beijing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, so as to have enough funds, but these places have a feature, that is, land prices are expensive. The construction of data center needs a large area of land. Buying such a large piece of land in first-and second-tier cities is very expensive and has a feeling of being overqualified. As an underdeveloped area, Guizhou has relatively low land price, which can save the construction cost of data center.
In addition, the electricity bill is also an important factor to consider.
A large data center, in which the equipment keeps working, will consume a lot of electricity. According to statistics, after the completion of the data center, the electricity bill will account for at least 50% of the total expenditure cost.
Due to the natural advantages of topography, Guizhou is rich in hydraulic resources and has the reputation of "Southern Battery". Building a data center here can save the cost of electricity, and Guizhou is underdeveloped, and the electricity fee is relatively cheaper than that in developed areas.
The relevant person in charge of Huawei's Guiyang channel business department once said that building a big data base in Beijing may cost one yuan at a time, but Guiyang only needs 4 cents. Ren also said: "Huawei puts the global data center in Guizhou, which can save hundreds of millions of electricity bills a year."
Of course, in addition to the above two most important factors, there are other influencing factors, such as policies. Knowing that Guizhou's economy is underdeveloped, the Guizhou government has introduced some preferential policies to attract these Internet technology companies to settle in Guizhou, which can save costs for enterprises.
Ma Yun once said that ten or twenty years later, the most precious and scarce resource in the world is not oil, but data. Big data is user's behavior data. Whoever has more data in the future will be more competitive.
Today, Guizhou has used its own advantages to attract a large number of Internet technology companies to settle down. Thanks to this, Guizhou's digital economy has ranked first in the country for many years, creating a large number of jobs.
With more and more enterprises settled here, Guizhou may become the leading city in the western economy in the future, and may even replace Zhongguancun in Beijing and become the new "Silicon Valley" in China. what do you think?
