Xuzhou, anciently known as Pengcheng, is a prefecture-level city in Jiangsu Province, a national historical and cultural city identified by the State Council, a national comprehensive transportation hub, and the center of the Huaihai Economic Zone. As of 2019, Xuzhou has five municipal districts, three counties and two county-level cities under its jurisdiction, with a total area of 11,765 square kilometers and a resident population of 8,825,600.
