Xuancheng, Anhui is a fourth-tier city.
Most fourth-tier cities are medium-sized cities with relatively ordinary city size, economic and social development levels, and transportation construction. Most of the fourth-tier cities are predominantly prefecture-level cities, and also include the provincial capitals, capitals, and autonomous regions of individual provinces and autonomous regions.
The economic and social development of fourth-tier cities often relies on local small and medium-sized enterprises or resource-based enterprises, and the consumption level of the residents is in the process of growth. In the regional strategic layout of large companies and brands, fourth-tier cities often have to rely on the radiation of the regional center city, which is attractive to local small and medium-sized enterprises and second-tier brands in China.
As of May 2020, there were 90 fourth-tier cities*** in China, including seven in Anhui Province: Bozhou City, Maanshan City, Xuancheng City, Huainan City, Huaibei City, Huangshan City and Tongling City.
Calculation
Based on the commercial store data of 170 mainstream consumer brands and the user behavior data of 18 head Internet companies in various fields and the urban big data of data organizations in 2018, the city was evaluated according to five dimensional indices: concentration of commercial resources, urban hubs, activity of urbanites, diversity of lifestyles, and plasticity in the future. The algorithm evaluates 337 Chinese cities at prefecture level and above according to five indexes.
The algorithm is the same as in the past: a combination of the New Tier 1 Cities Institute's expert committee's scores and principal component analysis to arrive at the final results.
