Waterproof coatings can be divided into many types according to its use, my thesis is mainly the study of the most widely used building waterproof coatings. My thesis is about the most widely used waterproof coatings for buildings.
Building waterproof coatings to synthetic polymer materials, asphalt, polymer-modified asphalt, inorganic materials, etc. as the main body mixed with the appropriate amount of additives, modified materials, filler materials and other processing. Compared with waterproofing membrane, waterproof coating construction is simple and convenient, suitable for any shape of the substrate, and can form a dense seamless coating film, therefore, waterproof coatings have been widely used in a variety of waterproofing projects, and has achieved rapid development. The research on this topic is mainly divided into three stages.
1.1 research on new waterproofing, need to do the preliminary preparatory work:
(1) to understand the current waterproof coatings at home and abroad in the state of research, development prospects.
(2) to understand the application of waterproof coatings in China, compared with foreign shortcomings.
(3) At present, the domestic and foreign waterproof coatings on the further relevant research.
(4) The research status and application of new waterproof coatings.
(5) Problems that still need to be solved in the application of waterproof coatings.

2. Background information
2.1 The concept of architectural waterproofing coatings
Concepts of architectural waterproofing materials are an important part of building materials, belonging to the functional materials, buildings and buildings and the promotion of the degree of application. Functional materials, buildings and structures to use waterproof materials and its main purpose is to moisture-proof, seepage-proof, leak-proof.
Building waterproof coating, (referred to as waterproof coating) is a building waterproof material. 2.3 Current waterproof coatings in the research and application of the problems that remain to be solved
(1) Most of the waterproof coatings are solvent-based, environmental pollution is greater, and water emulsion polymer-modified waterproof coatings are not stable enough.
(2) Some polymer waterproof coatings in mechanical properties, waterproofing properties and durability are not yet very satisfactory.
(3) some manufacturers in order to reduce costs, cut corners, to the second best, resulting in a large number of unqualified products into the market.

6.Summary
Though we are in the Department of Chemistry, we are still far away from waterproof coatings in chemical industry. I chose this topic from my own life experience. During my internship, I was painting the school, and the smell of the paint, which was a waterproof coating for steel, was unbearable. At that time, I wondered if there could be an environmentally friendly paint instead of this unbearable smell, and then I saw this topic and chose it without hesitation. After contacting my supervisor, I realized that this topic is not very simple, and that I need to have good professional knowledge and research spirit. However, I didn't know anything about the topic, even the simplest components. Learning the chemical search of this course, the major databases search each other, I understand the relevant knowledge of architectural waterproof coatings, preparation methods and formulations, some of the relevant coatings production sites, but also know the current foreign and domestic in this area to make some relevant research, aroused my interest in this topic, although I am still a layman, but I believe that interest is the first step to success, I will make better use of the information retrieval I will make better use of the information retrieval tool to successfully complete this project.
But there are some places I still feel inadequate, as many students, that is, foreign language search, for some of the English words of the profession is very strange, this is also their own need to improve the place, familiarize themselves with the relevant English words, Chinese and English interoperability.
7. Suggestions
I have benefited a lot from learning literature retrieval, and I no longer let the school's data repository go to waste. I know how to find the specialized literature I need to do my thesis and future research has a very big role. The courseware of Mr. Yang is very admirable, and it is much easier to learn.
But in terms of teaching and learning, it may vary from person to person, and there are still some places that need to be improved. The atmosphere in the classroom is still dull at times, we should create a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere that is conducive to the participation of all students in the teaching, especially the senior students. Teachers in the lecture at the same time should be appropriate and students together to complete the literature search, more examples, less theoretical knowledge, literature search is a very strong application of the course, more hands-on students, and less memorization of some theoretical knowledge.
But I learned a lot in this course, which is inseparable from the efforts of Mr. Yang.
