Xiangyang, formerly known as Xiangfan, prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Hubei Province, the State Council approved the determination of the new industrial base in Hubei Province and the center of northwestern Hubei city. Xiangyang*** has three municipal districts, three counties, and three county-level cities under its jurisdiction, with a total area of 19,700 square kilometers. As of the end of 2021, Xiangyang had a resident population of 5.271 million. Xiangyang is located in central China, northwestern Hubei, and the middle reaches of the Han River, and is a provincial sub-center city, a central city in the Han River basin, and an important member of the city cluster in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River.In 2021, Xiangyang's citywide GDP amounted to 530.943 billion yuan.
