China Mobile GPRS Package Service Introduction

Service Introduction

GPRS is the English abbreviation of General Packet Radio Service (GPRS), which is a new packet data bearer service developed on the existing GSM system.
The most fundamental difference between GPRS and existing GSM voice system is that GSM is a circuit-switched system, while GPRS is a packet-switched system. The most fundamental difference between GPRS and the existing GSM voice system is that GSM is a circuit-switched system, while GPRS is a packet-switched system. Therefore, GPRS is particularly suitable for intermittent, bursty or frequent data transfers of small amounts, as well as for occasional large data transfers. This characteristic is just right for most mobile interconnection applications.

GPRS is a 2.5-generation digital mobile communication technology that uses advanced wireless packet technology to closely integrate wireless communications with the Internet, and it serves as an advanced, new wireless network bearer to comprehensively enhance wireless data communication services and enter a new era of wireless Internet.

Customer Scope

1. Customer Scope: GSM, Mobilink and Shenzhouxing series of local brands (except for standard Shenzhouxing and other smart network customers).

2. Scope of domestic use: Domestic GPRS network coverage.

3. International use: cities with GPRS international roaming: Beijing, Guangdong, Liaoning, Fujian.

Customers can use GPRS international roaming to access the Internet with their eCard+laptop, use the Mobile Dream Network service, and send and receive MMS. Currently, GPRS international roaming is only open to China Mobile's local network services, and you cannot use the data services of the mobile operators in the roaming area.

Procedures and features

(1) GPRS advantages

GPRS has five major features, such as always on-line, billing according to the amount, fast login, switching, high-speed transmission and so on:

1, always on-line: the customer always stays in touch with the network, and the cell phone keeps connecting with the network when there is no data transmission, and does not need to re-dial for Internet access, thus realizing both Internet access and telephone calls. It is not necessary to redial to the Internet to realize the Internet and make phone calls at the same time.

2, according to the amount of billing: according to the customer's actual use of data traffic billing, no data transmission, even if hanging on the Internet is not charged, how much to pay for how much is very reasonable.

3, fast login: each time you need to use as long as 1 ~ 3 seconds to log on to the Internet.

4, free switching: GPRS has the advantage of automatic switching between data transmission and voice calls, so you can make phone calls while surfing the Internet.

5, high-speed transmission: GPRS theoretical maximum transmission speed of 171.2Kbps (bits per second, the specific speed depends on the ability of the terminal), the current use of GPRS can support a transmission rate of about 40Kbps, much faster than the second-generation GSM and IS-95 (narrowband) CDMA.

Note: Transmission speed is the speed at which a cell phone sends and receives data while on the Internet. "K" is the unit used to calculate the amount of Internet traffic on a cell phone. 1K = 1024 bytes, which is about 512 Chinese characters.

(2) Services provided by GPRS

1. GPRS carries WAP

WAP service is a kind of direct Internet access for cell phones, and it is a service to browse wap sites through the cell phone's "browser" (e.g., wap.monternet.com). You can enjoy news browsing, stock query, e-mail sending and receiving, online games, chatting and other application services. By accessing WAP through GPRS network, you can fully utilize the advantages of short access time, high rate, always on-line, and easy switching.

2, E-mail E-Mail

(1) Mobile Monternet E-mail: Simply enter the Mobile Monternet portal (wap.monternet.com) through GPRS, select E-mail service, and then you can access to any mailboxes you are familiar with, such as sina, 263, 163, and so on.

(2) Mobile phone built-in e-mail service (i.e., e-mail service that comes with the cell phone): access preset mailboxes through GPRS to send and receive e-mail.

3. GPRS cell phone + laptop access to the Internet

Using GPRS cell phone and laptop connection to access the Internet wirelessly, Internet browsing, download and other operations. With anytime, anywhere wireless access, always online, wireless fast transmission and other advantages.

4, Kjava download

As long as it is a GPRS cell phone that supports Kjava, you can use GPRS to download a variety of Kjava application services, such as: games, comics, stocks and so on.

5, support for industry applications:

1) GPRS provides you with the means of wireless access to expand public security, water conservancy, transportation, securities, customs and other industry applications. (For example: GPS vehicle positioning)

2) can establish a virtual private network for enterprise group customers to provide wireless access to the internal LAN, the real realization of mobile office.

(C) the relationship between WAP and GPRS

GPRS belongs to the second and third generation of mobile communication systems between the 2.5 generation of technology, and WAP belongs to a different category, GPRS and now GSM are equivalent to the highway, WAP is the "highway" on the "car". WAP is the "car" on the "highway". If GSM is a double lane country road, then GPRS is a highway with eight lanes, then the WAP business will be developed from the ordinary car into a "sports car", it can be said that GPRS enhanced WAP business. GPRS-based WAP cell phone will become an omnipotent, arbitrary personal communication tools and remote control, can truly realize the dream of wireless PDA.

GPRS is the network bearer of WAP service, and customers can use WAP service through GPRS network to connect to WAP website. Similar to the traditional 163 or ADSL connection to the WWW network to use WWW services, 163 or ADSL is the network bearer of the WWW website, the customer is really using the WWW services.

(2) Explanation of GPRS Tariff

(1) Traffic incurred by the customer is totalized every month, and the result of the totalization will be the billable traffic. The unit of billable traffic is KB (kilobyte), and less than 1KB is calculated as 1KB (1KB=1024 bytes, 1MB=1024KB)

(2) Normal period is 7:00-23:00, and preferential period is 23:00-7:00 of the next day, and the billable traffic of normal period is the actual traffic, and the billable traffic of preferential period is the actual traffic, and the billable traffic of preferential period is the actual traffic. The chargeable flow rate of the preferential period is 50% of the actual flow rate (rounded up to the nearest decimal).

(3) The GPRS subscription fee is charged on a monthly basis and apportioned on a daily basis, and is included in the data communication fee. For new applications for GPRS function (including new customers entering the network and applying for GPRS function), the tariffs of the selected package will be implemented from the date of application. If the time on the network in the same month is less than half a month (after the 16th, including the application on the 16th), the monthly usage fee and free traffic will be charged at 50%.

(4) The opening and canceling of GPRS function will be effective immediately.

The new GPRS package will be effective immediately for customers who apply for the new package; the change of package will be effective in the following month. Customers applying for package cancelation will take effect in the following month.

2. International roaming tariffs for GPRS

Customers who use GPRS when traveling to countries and regions outside of mainland China will be charged separately according to the tariffs for GPRS international roaming services, which will not be included in the GPRS packages selected by the customers.

(1) Outbound service tariffs: For outbound service to countries and regions other than mainland China, the tariffs are set at "local 'GPRS outbound service tariffs' x 115%".

(2) Visiting service tariffs: When users from countries and regions other than mainland China visit and roam, the tariff for GPRS service is RMB 0.10/k. (Starting from January 31, 2007, PTK Centertel in Poland, Europe, charges RMB 0.029/KB for roaming visits.)

Note: international roaming There is no preferential time period for international roaming users, and other billing principles are the same as those in China.
