If you can't recover it then brush it, go to the I Love Motorola forums and download the full set of brush software. There are also tutorials.

1 Overview

1.1 Overview

The S7 - Block Privacy function can be applied to encrypting and decrypting blocks, and you can download the encrypted FC or FB to the CPU. This feature provides a higher level of security than "know-how protection".

Once a block is encrypted, it cannot be edited without decryption. But if the source file of the block exists, the encrypted block will be decrypted as soon as a compile operation is performed on the source file. So if you want to be more secure, then after encryption, you should remove or transfer the source file from the project.

1.2 Limitations

For FC or FB blocks that you wish to encrypt, the maximum loaded memory of the block must not exceed 60K, which can be viewed in General-Part2 in the block's properties.

The following blocks cannot be encrypted:

Organization blocks (OB)

System functions (SFC)

System function blocks (SFB)

Failsafe blocks

.

Blocks with "know-how protection".

Block encryption function for CPU version requirements:

CPU 4xx firmware V6.0 and above

Note: Encrypted blocks can not be downloaded to S7-PLCSIM

2 S7 Block Privacy Installation

2.1 System Requirements

SIMATIC PCS 7 V8 or higher.

2.2 Installation

S7-Block Privacy can be found in the catalog files of the PCS 7 DVD 2. It needs to be installed separately by double-clicking setup.exe. The path is: Additional_Products/S7_Block_Privacy__V1.0+SP1.

Currently available in English and German languages.

3 S7 Block Privacy Usage

3.1 How to open Block Privacy

After installing S7_Block_Privacy, you can open the block protection interface by right-clicking Blocks under the PCS 7 component view and you can select Block Privacy. .

Note: Block Privacy must be used in conjunction with SIMATIC Manager, i.e., you need to go to open it in SIMATIC Manager, and if SIMATIC Manager is closed, then Block Privacy will also be closed.

3.2 Block Privacy Interface

S7-Block Privacy displays Blocks in a tree structure, and descriptions of the various icons can be found by clicking on F1 Help.

3.3 Encryption Process

1 Right click on the main database block folder and select Block Encryption

2 You can select the checkboxes in front of the blocks that you want to encrypt in the window that opens up;

3 Right click in front of any of the selected blocks and select "Encrypt Block...". Encrypt Block..." to encrypt all selected blocks. You can also click on any block you want to encrypt individually.

4 The Set Password dialog box for Block Privacy will pop up

5 In the dialog box in Figure 4, you can enter a password and click OK, or you can click Suggested key to get a suggested password, which consists of 12-24 characters.

Note: Make sure the password is secure and not lost, otherwise the block cannot be decrypted.

If you use the password suggested by the system, a dialog box will pop up as in Figure 5, and you can save the password in Notepad or WORD document by copying and pasting.

6 Click "OK" button, all the selected blocks are encrypted and the icon is displayed.

3.4 Removing Source Files from the Project

If the source files of the encrypted blocks in the project are not removed, the previously encrypted blocks can be restored to their unencrypted state by compiling the source files. Therefore, if you want to protect your blocks, then you must remove the source file from the project.

The steps are as follows:

1 Right-click on the S7 Block Privacy window and select the source files to be deleted (refer to Figure 2 for the exact meaning)

2 After clicking Confirm on the pop-up window, the source files will be removed from the tree directory in Figure 6

3 Right-click on the "Sources "Sources" folder and select the "Reorganize Source Folder"

Note: Ensure that this item is not open in SIMATIC Manager when doing this step

After reorganization, this source file will be completely deleted. will be completely deleted, which protects the privacy of the block.

Note: If we only choose to remove the source file, then this source file is still stored in the project folder, just can not be displayed in the window of the S7 Block Privacy window, then the source file can still be used, only after reorganization of the source folder, this source file can be completely deleted from the project folder

3.5 Decryption process

Open the S7-Block Privacy window in the same way, right-click on the block you want to decrypt, you can select a single block, or select multiple blocks you want to decrypt through the checkboxes in front of them

Select Decrypt Block, and enter the password in the pop-up "Block Decryption

Select Decrypt Block, enter the password in the pop-up "Block Decryption" window

Click OK, if the password is correct, you can successfully decrypt the block, if the password is entered incorrectly for three consecutive times, then the S7-Block Privacy window will be automatically closed, and in the future, you will need to re-call the window to try to decrypt the block, which will increase response time.
