Asparagus, perennial parasitic herb, 60-100cm high, the whole plant does not contain chlorophyll. Tuber fat, fleshy, oblong, about 10cm long, 3-4.5cm in diameter, with less obvious links. The stem is cylindrical, yellow-reddish in color. Leaves scale-like, membranous, 1-2cm long, finely veined, the lower short sheathing clasping. Racemes terminal, 10-30cm long, flowers yellow-red; pedicels short, 2-3mm long; bracts membranous, narrowly lanceolate or linear-long elliptic, ca. 1cm long; floral tube crooked-potentate, mouth obliquely shaped, slightly dilated at lower side of base, apex 5-lobed, lobes small, triangular; labellum higher than 2/3 of floral tube, 3-lobed, central lobe larger, base of which in floral tube shortly stalked; gynostegium 5-6mm long. 6 mm, apex with 2 small appendages; ovary obovate, ovary stalk twisted. Capsule oblong to oblong-obovate, ca. 15 mm, shortly pedicellate. Seeds many and fine, powdery, flowering June-July. Fruiting period July-August.
