Chinese Academy of Sciences Big Data Research Institute has a computer vision major, NUST has a complete discipline system. As of December 2021, *** there are 46 first-level disciplines authorized for doctoral degrees, distributed in nine disciplines: philosophy, economics, education, history, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, management; 57 first-level disciplines authorized for master's degrees, distributed in 11 disciplines: philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, agronomy, medicine, and management. The university also has the authorization for the first-level disciplines of finance and economics. In addition, NUST has 16 types of professional degree authorization points in Finance, Applied Statistics, Applied Psychology, Translation, Electronic Information, Mechanical, Materials and Chemical Engineering, Resource and Environment, Energy and Power, Civil Engineering and Water Resources, Biology and Medicine, Agriculture, Pharmacy, Business Administration, Public **** Management, and Engineering Management. While maintaining its strengths in natural sciences, NUST has in recent years continuously strengthened the construction of applied disciplines, emerging interdisciplinary disciplines as well as disciplines in humanities and social sciences, and its strengths in disciplines such as management, philosophy, medicine, psychology, economics, and law have gradually emerged. The university now has 15 undergraduate programs and 99 postdoctoral mobile stations.
NUST is one of the first 20 colleges and universities authorized by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council to conduct independent audits of degrees. According to the results of the fourth round of national academic discipline assessment, 30 disciplines of NUST were rated as A category, including 18 A+ disciplines. In the ESI (Essential Science Indicators)-new data released in March 2022, NUST was ranked 42nd globally, which is the first place in mainland universities. Among all 22 disciplines ranked by ESI, NUST's Materials Science, Chemistry, and Environment/Ecology are among the top 10,000 of ESI; 9 disciplines of Materials Science, Chemistry, Environment/Ecology, Plant and Animal Science, Earth Science, Biology and Biochemistry, Physics, Agricultural Science, and Engineering Science are among the top 1,000 of ESI, and 19 disciplines are among the top 100 disciplines of ESI.
