Introduction of Project 211 and Project 985
Project 211, which is the project to build 100 or so higher education institutes and a number of key disciplines, is the largest and highest-level key construction work in the field of higher education since the founding of New China. China Agricultural University (CAU) was founded in 1905 as the Agricultural College of Peking University, and in September 1949, the College of Agriculture of Peking University, the College of Agriculture of Tsinghua University, and the College of Agriculture of North China University merged to form the Beijing Agricultural University, and in October 1952, the Department of Agricultural Mechanics of Peking Agricultural University merged with the North China Agricultural Mechanics Specialized School, and the School of Plants of the Central Agricultural Ministry to form the Beijing Mechanized Agricultural College, and in November of the same year, the Plains Agricultural College was established. In November of the same year, the Plain Agricultural College was merged into the Beijing Mechanized Agricultural College, which was renamed Beijing Agricultural Mechanized College in July 1953 and Beijing University of Agricultural Engineering in October 1985.
